And you're waiting for what?
Posted Thursday, September 4, at 1:22 PM
Well you have just returned from the Dr. and the visit was just as you expected... cut out this and cut out that and start exercising. Oh, there again is that dreaded word, EXERCISE!
Well, you can look at is dreaded or you can look at it as, "Well, it's about time! Your blood pressure is up your cholesterol is up and well it's about time. Depending on your weight situation and blood sugar you could even be looking at type 2 diabeties. All of this can be controlled through diet and exercise after all didn't your Dr. just tell you that? Sometimes I feel like I am on the soapbox with a mega-phone, but if that is what it takes to make people listen, then so be it. The problem is too often we know what we should be doing but that path is the one that is least chosen so we choose to take the road more traveled. Well the problem with that road is there are too many that are on the side of it with poor health conditions.
It is all about the choices in life we make, we are all aware of this but we continue to choose the wrong path. So what are you waiting for and which path are you going to choose? As always if you have any questions e-mail them to me at fitnessconnection@live.com
I want to compliment a couple that just joined about a month ago on their progress. I will only use first names. Way to go Don & Angela? Don has lost 15# and Angela is down 2 sizes plus 8 # lighter. They chose the path less traveled and are reaping the dividends of that choice.
Ok I know I know it's been awhile! I know I have kept saying in my print articles a blog was coming a blog was coming so here it is. I am not making any excuses but staying on top of my wife's figure competition training and diet is time consuming along with running the gym during an extensive promotion. To all you new members welcome!...
Old School vs. Hot New Trendy Every day it seems somebody has found a new method or new exercise that is it, the silver bullet if you will. They seem to come and go just like the seasons but the one that remains and never seems to go out of style is good old strength/resistance training with weights. Even before Charles Atlas ran his now famous comic book ad's 60 years ago weight training existed and even though it was shall we say in the closet the people that did it stood out...
Interesting! If many of you are not aware the Regional Health Center here in Dexter is currently running an Individual Fitness Challenge. I have some members that are currently enrolled in the program and have now weighed in twice. Those that are devotedly following the meal plan that I outlined for them have lost an average of 6.5# in a week with diet and exercise and do not feel skiddish or weak...
Where oh where has the time gone! June is now upon us that means we half way through the year already. Remember that New Year's resolution you made or well were going to make? Now just what was that resolution? Oh wait a minute it will come to you, oh yeah "Join a gym, lose weight." and this TIME I MEAN IT! No slouching, this time I am going to do it, eat right, cut back on things and get active. Yes this time it's for real!...
Train with P & P! It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that will join a gym pay their dues show up loyally for a few weeks then drop into the abyss. Quite often you will see them walk in with a glazed look on their face hit a few exercises walk on a treademill and whoosh they are gone. ...
Yeeha warmer temperatures! With summer now just around the corner and temperatures on the rise you may be thinking to yourself, why stay active at the gym? I will be outside and doing more so I can skip all summer and go back in the fall I won't lose that much. Well my friend if your in that mode of thinking I can tell you nothing can be further from the truth...
A few things to do just to feel better about YOU! Take a power nap! It is proven that short naps can help you kill stress and recharge. Just a 30 minute nap is all it takes to get you going again. More than 30 minutes and the body enters into the deep stages of sleep. Eating foods like olives, nuts or peanut butter about 20 minutes before a meal helps your stomach digest food slower which makes you feel full longer and these foods can also help your body absorb fat-soluable vitamins such as A, D, E and K...
What you want me to eat to lose weight? Yeah right! Every diet in the world promises that you will lose weight, feel great and be in those clothes you wore in high school. It seems every couple of years that there is a new guru that has the lift one leg turn the heat up to 80 in the house then swallow orange peels and wa lah you will lose weight...
No Quik FIXES! In our country today everything is about right now, faster, quicker and hurry up already. Unfortunately that is how it is with how people view their fitness programs. Unfortunately there are no magic pills that you can take that will eradicate bodyfat while you sit on the couch and order pizza while downloading e-mails. Nope sorry diet, exercise and supplements all work hand in hand...
