Summer Reading!
Posted Tuesday, September 2, at 11:46 PM
Hello, everyone out there in the blogosphere! Seems things got quite heated on the last topic! I guess that's how it goes sometimes. Okay, A LOT!!

Anyway, onto a new topic of discussion which I realize may only peak the interest of a few rather than a multitude. However, I am presenting it to everyone: As an avid lover of books and reading itself, I ask: What is your favorite book or piece of literature? Currently, I am reading A Tree Grows In Brooklyn! I must say that I absolutely love it and am honestly embarrassed to admit that I have never read it before; whether it is because I never had the time or simply never took the time! I can truthfully admit that it may be my next favorite!

I've read all kinds of novels and other works-including the classics-but my favorites have been easy reads such as the Nicholas Sparks books!! (I just love him)!! And, we all know that no matter how good the movie is, that movie rarely ever lives up to the book! Yet, the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, in my opinion, is almost as good as the movie and it quite possibly ranks at the same caliber in my book! (No pun intended)!!

So, in regard to love of literature, my question is not only "What is your favorite book?" but also, as an iquiry to your appreciation of literature and/or leisurely pass-time, what interesting tale have you been reading this summer?

Signing off-Your nighttime bookworm,

Betty Jo

Posted Friday, August 8, at 9:17 AM

Good morning, folks! Guess what? I've decided to play a little game of Flip This Blog. That's right, for this post it will be your turn to tell me something good b/c that is the theme: Good News! With all the bad news we hear and read today from the decline in our economy and healthcare system to other, terribly disturbing news stories that I wont even begin to mention, it is nice when we can enjoy some truly good news!...

How safe is your city park?
Posted Saturday, August 2, at 9:47 PM

City parks and school or daycare playgrounds can be fun places to take your children; places to enjoy quality family togetherness or for your children to develop interaction skills. However, the rarely thought of con side to parks and playgrounds is that they can also be dangerous places for children to play if not kept up to regulatory standards...

How do you discipline children and maintain a close, marital relationship?...Step-families in today's society!
Posted Thursday, July 17, at 9:59 PM

Okay everyone, onto a new topic of discussion...How should a mother or father properly discipline their children and step-children in a step-family setting and still maintain a healthy and close relationship with their spouse? Being a good parent is hard enough without adding further complications, disturbances, or just plain "new" people to the mix. ...

Preschool fashion-sense...Overboard?
Posted Friday, July 11, at 6:10 PM

Okay, I have to sound off about something here. The other day, while out and about, I came across two little girls talking outside of a church-based daycare. The location has nothing to do with my opinion here but the topic of conversation does. The young tikes appeared to be around the age of four or five and they were discussing the brand of clothing the other happened to be wearing like two miniature Hollywood stars being stopped on the red carpet by reporters and the like. ...

Obama considering trip to Iraq...What's your opinion?
Posted Monday, July 7, at 4:43 PM

Quick question everyone and this one will be short and sweet: What do you all think about diplomacy and of Senator Obama going over seas to talk face to face with our soldiers and their commanders? Please feel free to give me honest and sincere opinions! This is not a question of "Should our soldiers still be in Iraq?" or the like. It is, however, an opinion-minded question of civic importance. Also, what do you all think will come of the feedback that the Senator receives?...

What's your caffeine culprit?
Posted Saturday, June 28, at 11:40 PM

As I sit here in my tiny home office writing to you, my dearest blogger buds, I find myself alternating sips of Maxwell House (filled to the brim of a certain treasured mug) with the strokes of keys on my laptop. What's the big deal in that you ask? Well, being an active member of this society in which certain caffeinated stimulants(coffee, cappuccino, espresso, candy bars, energy drinks, Cokes, frapuccinos, iced lattes'...you get the idea) are almost a requirement to boost slumping energy levels on a daily basis, I now realize I have put forth way more than my fair share in membership dues.. ...

Spying on tweens and teens...right or wrong?
Posted Monday, June 16, at 7:33 PM

While watching an episode of Reba, one of my family's favorite TV sitcoms, that lent itself to the issue of raising young teenage children, I found myself wondering "Is it okay in this day and age to spy on your children?" My two little ones are rapidly growing into ones who aren't so little anymore! Both my daughter and my step-son are in the "tween" stage of adolescence where puberty is a big issue as well as all of the mini issues that tag along with puberty's transforming nature. ...

The Wonders and Blunders of Husbands and Fathers
Posted Saturday, June 14, at 9:29 PM

Hello, my dear boisterous bloggers! It's lady liberal here ready to open up the lid on another can of worms. How about religion this time? LOL! Just kidding. On to a new chapter of discussion: Husbands and Fathers. With Father's day just around the corner, HOLY COW...it's tomorrow isn't it? Only kidding again, how could I forget even with all of the millions of things on my ever expanding to-do list?...
