The Return of Clem Kadiddle Hopper
Volunteerism is alive and well!
People coming in - or going out - of Advance on Highway C this afternoon may not have seen the activity at the Senior Community (Nutrition) Center today, but this NSC reporter just happened to be there, clipping spent rose blooms off the Knock Out roses, when the action occured!
A truck pulled up, loaded with a bale of straw, two beautiful mums, two pumpkins and a gourd - and, most importantly - our old friend Clem Kadiddle Hopper. Those who frequent the center or drive by it will remember Clem from last year, when he and his wife, Bertie Kadiddle Hopper, sat in the same location throughout the month of October.
Much has changed in the last year. In case you notice that there are no letters on that new brick structure, you may remember that a certain city employee (who shall remain nameless) did a number on the sign with a back hoe!
When we gathered for the Friday meal, we were greeted by a pile of rubble!!
"I just tapped it!" this anonymous worker was heard to say.
The city had a new brick sign erected, and now we are waiting for the Advance Clover 4H group to complete the new lettering.
We are pleased to see Clem back in his old Autumn location, even though Mrs. Kadiddle Hopper decided to stay home, baking pumpkin pies!
Ah, Autumn.....You are a Happy Time!!
Thanks to Emma and Chester Powers for the wonderful things they do for the Advance Senior Community Center!
