Technically challenged
I have allowed you into my life enough that by now you probably know me like a book. Well, maybe a small book.
Therefore, you have already learned about my inadequaacies when it comes to electronics or anything technical. I don't really care anything about learning them either. I can think of more interesting and fun ways to spend my time, like listening to Mike Hester talk about his "Donkies and Diamonds."
Mom told me once years ago that I needed to learn a certain something. Can't remember what, but it was something I didn't want to learn. My response to her was "If I learn how to do it, I will have to keep doing it." So I never learned, on purpose!
We have had a spurt around our home when everything decided to go bad at once. Computers, cars, televisions, hair dryers, curling irons, kitchen range, washer and dryer. You name it, it went down on us. Right after Christmas!
You do notice there is an "s" on the end of some words.
As you know, we must have a washer and dryer, so I spent lots of time searching for just the right set. It had to be the right size to fit my space and larger capacity than my old one, and certain bells and whistles. You know the deal. I read (I thought) all the reviews and it all sounded great.
So, I finally made a choice.
Well, first of all it took me a month to get them, but when they finally arrived, I was so excited. I loved the new style. But when I started to use it I felt like a small child who had been given a book to read that was beyond my years!
I spoke of bells and whistles-- let me tell you, they have them. Lights, oh my goodness! Flashing lights, red lights, yellow lights. When I turn the laundry room lights off at night, they light up the whole room. Makes me think of driving dowtown in a big city with all the lighted marquees and the lights lining the runways at the airports.
When I open the doors on the washer and dryer, they play music! I sometimes forget they are laundry products. I'm standing there in a daze thinking I'm in a casino and I've just hit the jackpot on the blazing sevens waiting to hear the jingle-jingle-cha-ching of coins rolling out at me! You know, there's a lot more story here than I have room for.
I will have to save my new cooking range stories for another column. Let's just say that I am having to learn to cook all over again.
See ya next time in the "Korner."
