Others May You CannotPosted Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 3:23 PM
Have you ever felt like you were being held to a higher standard than other folks? Ever felt like others could get away with things that you could not? The following by G.D. Watson may have your answer.
Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." If God has called you to be really like Christ in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility and put on you such demands of obedience, that He will not allow you to follow other Christians, and in many ways He will seem to let other good people do things which He will not let you do. Others can brag on themselves, and their work, on their success, on their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you begin it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works. The Lord will let others be honored and put forward, and keep you hid away in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice fragrant fruit for His glory, which can be produced only in the shade. Others will be allowed to succeed in making money, but it is likely God will keep you poor because he wants you to have something far better than gold and that is a helpless dependence on Him; that He may have the privilege of supplying your needs day by day - out of an unseen treasury. God will let others be great, but He will keep you small. He will let others do a great work for Him and get credit for it, but He will make you work and toil on without knowing how much you are doing; and then to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work you have done, and this will make your reward ten times greater when He comes. The Holy Spirit will put strict watch over you, with a jealous love, and will rebuke you for little words and feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem distressed over. So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign, and has a right to do what He pleases with His own, and He will not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealing with you. He will wrap you up in a jealous love, and let other people say and do many things that you cannot do or say. Settle it forever, that you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, and that He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue, or chaining your hand, or closing your eyes, in ways that others are not dealt with. Now, when you are so possessed with the Living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this particular personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of heaven. --G. D. Watson (1845-1924)

We both graduated from Bible Missionary Institute, our denomination's small four year Bible college in Rock Island, Illinois. I was born and raised in Pomona, California while my wife was raised in Monmouth, Illinois. I am an ordained minister in the Bible Missionary Church. We attend and are members of the Dexter Bible Missionary Church.
I've been employed by Tyson Foods for 14 years. My wife is a CNA.
I've always been conservative in my political views and have always been active in politics and the Pro-Life movement. My politics have not always been Republican. From 2003-2009 I was vice-chairman of the Prohibition National Committee, the steering arm of the Prohibition Party. In '09, I joined the Constitution Party of Missouri. But, I've been attending the GOP rallys and club meetings since last year and have been campaigning for certain Republican candidates since we moved to this area. I'm on the SEMO Life Chain Committee.

A vexed soul often pulls people up to do things when
more contented people are willing to let evils go on.
The Bible said that Lot's soul was vexed at the bad talk by people of Sodom. Lot's soul was vexed because he was a righteous man.
I had been so vexed at the death tolls from alcoholic drinks and the continued push by governors and legislators in league with massive chain stores that were not appalled by the deaths that I formed Georgia Prohibition with the goal of total removal of alcoholic drinks however remote that goal is. It is very vexing that people would kill the unborn, give them no Christian burial, and place their bodies on sale. A vexed soul sees evil as repulsive because in truth it is repulsive. The soul that is not vexed can accept evil more easily.
The absence of alcoholic drinks and abortion is the presence of life.
Georgia Prohibition is now on Facebook for those who would like to join our effort or just would like to comment pro or con.
Let your soul be vexed at evil to see its true nature and it will turn your hand to doing good and ridding the earth of the evil.

Georgia Prohibition
The treasure of humility and crucifixion
Is always avoided by those seeking attention
Leaving the broad path of great ministry
Seldom will you be heard and even less seen
Others build monuments and write their books
You build up others who don't get second looks
Sometimes convicted for wanting to do too much
Forgetting it's not your words but GOD's touch
Hidden in obscurity far from the world's eyes
Choice fragrant fruit that GOD will prize
As the credits roll each actor gets acclaim
But for you they remember Jesus not your name
Holy Spirit rebukes for selfish words and feelings
For focusing on yourself not others and healings
GOD is Sovereign and doesn't check in with you
There's a purpose and reason for each thing you do
And in this secret place that few will ever see
A special child reaches up and says, "Father, hold me."
.....peace.....
This writing by G.D. Watson is special to me. I remember writing these words in one of my first bibles forty years ago. I also included Tozer's Five Vows for Spiritual Power (just the vows not the booklet).
These words by Watson were not a goal but a prayer and desire of my heart. Kind of like when I "first" discovered Psalm 131...Lord, my heart is not haughty nor mine eyes lofty, etc...
Anyways, thanks Richard for sharing Others May You Cannot. At the beginning of your blog you asked two questions.
Have you ever felt like you were being held to a higher standard than other folks? Isaiah 59:19b When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
Remember the old bible school "standard", His Banner Over Me Is Love? Remember John 3:16. What about 1 John 3:16? Hereby perceive we the love of GOD because He laid down His life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Richard, is this the standard for the super saint, the spiritual elite? I mean really who of us qualify?
Isaiah 57:15(Amplified) For thus says the high and lofty One--He Who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, but with him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the thoroughly penitent [bruised with sorrow for sin].
Others May You Cannot captures love born out of humility and crucifixion. This standard does not look at others but to Jesus. The love received is the love given.
The second question, Ever felt like others could get away with things that you could not? Read Psalm 73. And this from Psalm 106:15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
Others May You Cannot are the words of one celebrating the liberty of being a "special child" of GOD. In a world where many suffer from "spiritual Asperger" they see clearly.
