The Fight is On!Posted Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 4:08 PM
Well, the primary election is over and done with. November 6th, the winners of the primary will be on the ballot. We intelligent voters may vote straight party or vote for whom we deem best regardless of party affiliation. The fight has just begun as candidates take to the airwaves and the streets.
Now some of the candidates whom I voted for didn't win. I was especially disappointed in Parker's loss to Emerson. However, I'd rather Emerson wins in November against her Democratic Party rival, Jack Rushin.
You see folks, we need to get rid of this, "Vote for the lesser of two evils" cliche. How about voting for "second best"?
In the battle between the ideologies of left versus right, we often have to side with whom we perceive as "second best" rather than allow the other side's alternative to win. Between now and November 6th, we conservatives need to rally around the "second best" candidate who has the best chance of winning against the liberal alternative.
On the left, we have the Democratic Party which believes in keeping abortion legal. Some of its candidates believe in keeping it legal to full term. Oh, you'll hear the "I personally am opposed to it, but..." In other words, the candidate believes it should remain legal.
On the left, we have the Democratic Party which may very well endorse gay marriage in its platform this coming DNC in September.
Those of us who voted Republican in this primary may not be entirely satisfied with the results. Let's get behind the winners and vote for them in November! Let's hold their feet to the fire. When they make bad choices, let's call them on the carpet. But, the fight is on!
The fight is between the America of traditional moral values of sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman and sanctity of life from conception versus an America of moral relativism. It's between the America of economic prosperity that comes from hard work and free enterprise versus an America of social welfare and redistribution of wealth. Its between the America of a strong national defense based on "peace through strength" versus an America under UN control. The choice is yours. As for me and my house, we choose the right kind of America, not the kind the Democratic Socialists want for us! The fight is on!

My wife Susan (Sue) and I have lived in Soddard County since September of '96. We both graduated from Bible Missionary Institute, our denomination's small four year Bible college in Rock Island, Illinois. I was born and raised in Pomona, California while my wife was raised in Monmouth, Illinois. I am an ordained minister in the Bible Missionary Church. We attend and are members of the Dexter Bible Missionary Church. I've been employed by Tyson Foods for 14 years. My wife is a CNA. I've always been conservative in my political views and have always been active in politics and the Pro-Life movement. My politics have not always been Republican. From 2003-2009 I was vice-chairman of the Prohibition National Committee, the steering arm of the Prohibition Party. In '09, I joined the Constitution Party of Missouri. But, I've been attending the GOP rallys and club meetings since last year and have been campaigning for certain Republican candidates since we moved to this area. I'm on the SEMO Life Chain Committee.
