Unexpected ChristmasPosted Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 3:18 PM
It was an unexpected Christmas at an unexpected time
His message and timing didn't make sense or rhyme
A miracle unfolded in the coldness of the night Dancers performed for the perverse's delight
As life rushed by too busy to notice or care A hungry man wished someone would share
Unable to get in He was born outside Still today we have so much to hide
A newborn watches as stars dance overhead Another captive into blinding darkness is led
A mother's tear unable to get inside Warmth a father is unable to provide
Silent are Joseph and Mary's pleas In heaven, GOD the Father sees
Fear grips their heart as they hear the gate creak The baby is fragile and the mother is weak
Will they lose even this shelter and be sent away Will they be driven away so the animals can stay
The rough hands of a shepherd holds a staff and a rod Tenderly the shepherd tells of angels sent by GOD
Proclaiming this child's birth and peace he would bring A day when evil would be silent and good will sing
As this shepherd speaks other shepherds arrive Bringing those things needed to keep the baby alive
Blankets and coats that protect from the cold Even a stuffed wool lamb for the baby to hold
The shepherds gathered wood and built a fire on the ground The innkeeper came out but saw shepherds and turned around
The outcasts, the disgraced, the least of the least Shared together in a humble Christmas feast
Each sharing what they had each glad to have had a part Christmas is never unexpected when Jesus lives in your heart

A Pure Heart ![]() - Archives - Blog RSS feed - Comments RSS feed - Send email to Gordon Greene - Login I have the heart of a poet, the eye of an artist, and dress like a bum. I am no one important. No title, no position, no authority. Just a normal person. But I know Jesus. And Jesus knows me. And this relationship has changed my life and continues to change my life. I have no desire to be known but great desire for others to know Jesus.
I would like to blog about Jesus, christian living, church, hurting, hope. I do not want to lead this blog but follow it wherever it leads.

Very Good! Merry Christmas!
Mr. Greene,
I just read your two poems and love them. I
also love Jesus and am happy we can share him with the world. Keep writing.
