When you open your heart you open a door
To a world that others easily ignore

Inviting in the way of the Cross
Purifying fire spiritual dross

Embracing those the church can't see
There is no vision when eyes are on thee

Hearing the cries feeling the pain
Loneliness shivers from the rain

Fog of indifference invisible flood
Perfection always avoids the mud

Love is sheltering one from the storm
Exposing yourself so another can warm

Love is a light that dwells within
Pure hearts see little ones not sin

Love is a heart that breaks again and again
Always hoping and believing not if but when

Love knows misunderstanding and rejection
Disappearing into the night of no reputation

When you open your heart you cannot ignore
A cry in the night and knock at the door
