The Resume
I waited patiently for the interview
I wasn't sure what I would say or do
Several before me were dressed to kill
Confident in their abilities and skill
Detailing each and every accomplishment
Self-assurance in how they would present
So much talent and good looks, too
What chance did I have after they're thru
I reflected on my life what I have done
Because of poor choices I was shunned
Mistakes and missteps too many made
And too many times I was played
Others can speak of how they excelled
While in my life many times I failed
I had no idea what I would do or say
A blank sheet of paper was my resume
Each one before me came out with a smile
Saying that Jesus was impressed by their style
Great things they would do with GOD onboard
They would build effective ministries for the Lord
Using their riches much good they would do
Out with the old and worthless in with the new
They congratulated each other but left me out
Someone like me knows what that is about
Then my name was called and I went in
Very much aware of my past and sin
I was surprised to see Jesus looking sad
Knew in my heart that this would be bad
I sat down and handed Jesus my resume
Soon this would be over I'd be on my way
Jesus asked me what I wanted Him to do
"Nothing, Lord, I just desire to be near You"
"Finally, I found one whose heart is right
Who I can trust to walk by faith not sight
Who is poor in spirit knowing their needs
Who is not above the task of sowing seeds
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me
Together we'll work in ways others cannot see
An idol is an idol no matter how it's dressed
By your humility others will be blessed"
What my heart desired but life did not deserve
Became my reality as with Jesus others I serve
Each day in His presence always on His mind
Rejoicing as the Lord opens the eyes of the blind
Seeing themselves thru eyes of love not sin
Finally for the hurting the healing will begin
I saw one sitting waiting for an interview
A blank sheet of paper what will they do
.....peace.....
