Philippians 4:11-12 (NIV) I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.....
I have learned to be content...whatever the circumstances.
I have learned the secret of being content...in any and every situation.
Contentment is not based on what you have or don't have. Neither is it based on favorable circumstances or certain situations.
This contentment, this secret of being content, is an inward work of grace that is learned.
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
To whom is this invitation to come extended?
Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message) "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me--watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
This invitation is to any Christian who is not content with "business as usual". Who has discovered that "faking it till you make it" only makes you a fake. This invitation if for the Christian who is tired of the amusement park with it's roller coaster of emotions and games that promise you your hearts desire. This invitation is to the Christian "addict" (in whatever form that may be) who is finally ready to get away with Jesus and recover their life.
Today, if you hear His voice...
The Unforced Rhythms Of Grace
I struggled so hard to get this right
To live for GOD and to walk in the light
Burned out on religion needing to get away
But I hid this truth with words I would say
Tired and worn out from all I tried
Desolate and empty I sat and cried
And then I heard Jesus speaking softly
With a loving voice He said Come unto Me
The burdens you carry you carry alone
Why must everything you touch you own
Get away with Me and you will recover
The joy of life once again discover
Walking to Jesus I entered His rest
With nothing to lose put His words to the test
Walking with Jesus and working with Him,too
The longer I am with Him the easier it is to do
Learning the unforced rhythms of grace
Effortlessly now I am running this race
Learning from Jesus how to wait
Serving others no longer I hate
Together with Him makes this worthwhile
My life in harmony as I walk a second mile
I didn't enter rest but rest entered me
Never in my life have I been this free
