This time it counts! Really!Posted Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 2:11 PM
If the baseball All-Star game is going to count for something like home field advantage during the World Series I think some rules need to be changed, especially if a billion people in Japan are going to 'manipulate' the voting! What do you think? How can a group of bloggers from the Daily Statesman straighten out how the All-Star teams are selected? If we get this straightened out maybe we can work on the referees in the NBA! Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

All-Star voting should totally be left up to the paying customer. There should be no online voting. It should be determined by the coaches, players, and people that actually attend the ball games. It has gotten to the point to where I don't even cast a ballot when I go to the games, because I know you can vote up to 25 times online for each email address you have. It's crazy.
Good idea!
All Stars should be selected by the Coaches and players within each league. Paying customers know very little about putting together the best team, and a lot about voting for their favorite players which may not be All Star worthy.
I remember when I was a prep league All-Star and our Morgan furniture manager wasn't going to pick me. My Mom and Dad got all up in him and scared him in to not only picking me, but starting me at Short Stop.
I dont know about that hoonowski. If you leave it up to the coaches you end up with the whole Gisi Oil team being selected.
That's awesome hoon. Kudos to mom and dad. That is exactly what parents should do for their children. Gisi Oil #1, boorrrrrrrm!!!
Too much money in these pro sports anymore. Let's fix that. Maybe we could get Hoon's parents on the case...
I hit .224 and only had 8 errors in the Sikeston Tournament. I got a trophy and a medal.
It actually only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Sometimes it's hard to tell when you guys are being sarcastic and when you're being serious.
Remember ct..... thick skin!
But NOT hard to tell when we are being intelligent! Good coaching Greer!!!!!!
ct, sometimes I don't know when I'm being sarcastic or serious. Like right now, I'm probably being sarcerious. Oh well.
Fins to the left, Fins to the right, you're the only bait in town.
Interleague play has made the All-Star game completely insignificant. Big egos have made it completely boring. At least 95% of the fans don't know jack**** about baseball and shouldn't be able to vote in anyone. Those same loser "fans" ruined old Busch Stadium by buying up tickets to see McGwire play and the owners completely destroyed the bleacher sections because of it.
And, every person over the age of 12 who wears a jersey with some major league player's name on the back of it is an idiot.
I am the Lizard King…I can do anything.
BG....agree with the Molina Opinion......4 stolen bases through 6 innings??????? Cubs catcher suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuux at throwing out thieves.
My name is Shannon Hoon, and I hate sliders in the dirt.
The Cub loving Japanese voters skewed the whole deal. Fukudome and Soto shouldn't have even been in New York let alone in the starting lineup.
I heard Fukudome doesn't like playing in indoor stadiums.
Last time I typed something like Fukudome, I was banned from the site.
