Pack it up Brett!

Has the 'immortal' one, Brett Favre, passed his last football on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field?

Should I retire? Should I play? OK, Do they want me on the team? I'm playing. Should I retire? Should I play? My body hurts. Do they want me on the team? I'm playing. OK, this time I'm retiring; no ifs, ands or buts about it. Wait, I've changed my mind. I want to play. What do you mean you don't want me on the team?

Boofricketyhoo.... enough is enough!

Brett Favre did some incredible things on 'the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field' but why should the Green Bay Packers bend over backwards to make him happy.... again? He has a Super Bowl ring and his stats show that he is one of the most fierce competitors to ever play the game. He's earned his date with the Hall of Fame.

Business is business and after the 2005 and the 2006 seasons we, along with the Packer's management team, had to sit patiently on our thumbs while Brett decided if he was going to retire or not. His delay on a decision had an immediate impact on the restructuring of the team for the future with draft picks and free agency.

Favre finally committed to the rocking chair after last season..... Now he wants to come back and does not have many good things to say about Packer management. ESPN is reporting that Green Bay affiliates are in Favre's hometown in Mississippi "begging him to stay away from training camp"!

What are your thoughts on Favre and the situation he has created with the Green Bay Packers?

Bon - he quit at the end of last year. Decisions were made due to that. Now he comes back and puts The Pack in a bad situation. I'm glad they stood firm and at least got a pick for him to go to the Jets.

Kellen Clemens is probably the one who benefits the most from this.

Brett can't stand the pressure anymore. He was a great quarterback, but if you watch him now the mistakes under pressure are more than the great plays he makes.

So what about Aaron Rodgers? He wants to play in the NFL. The Packers drafted him the first time Brett Favre couldn't decide if he was going to play or not. I think Rodgers should demand a trade then when Brett decides he doesn't want to play anymore, the Packers would be without a quarterback. It would be their own fault because they have allowed the situation to continue for so long.

Brett has done wonders for Green Bay, they wouldn't have achieved what they achieved without him.

I'm sure he would be a good fit for someone...... If Vinny Testervarde can play until he is 83 then so can Brett.

staley, I believe he is entitled to get his old job back. He has payed his dues, earned the respect, and has proven he is still a great QB.

I do however, like your idea about Seattle. That would be rather interesting. Especially being in the NFC. My gut feeling is he won't be back in Green Bay.

Trade him or let him go...he's still good for the league, but not the Packers. He has the right to play if he's good enough now, but isn't entitled to anything b/c of his history as a great quarterback.

I wonder what Holmgren is thinking...this is his last year at the helm in Seattle. Now THAT would be a story book ending if the Seachickens picked him up and they went all the way.

AGREE....and still sorry about all those dirty thumbs.

Not talking level of play...talking legacy. Montana didn't do for the Chiefs what he did for the 9er's either, but still Hall of Fame and SB Champ means more than fading out instead of blowing up like a firecracker.

I am not going to feel sorry for Green Bay....Favre has given them a hell of a lot in his years leading those teams and like BS said, many without big name signees to help out. I say, sign him, let him compete and if he beats out Rogers....fine. If he doesn't, he will be the starter by week 3-4 anyway.

hoon, I agree with ya. Favre has definitely earned the right to comeback if he wants. The question here is who would you rather have? Favre or Rogers. I know who I would rather have and it's not Rogers. Favre is still a top 5 QB in the league and he can still win games. And on the management topic, Favre has been frustrated with them longer than two years because they won't go out an sign any big free agents. I say let him play or trade him and I hope he comes back and drills them with 300+ yards and three TDs.

I feel sorry for all of you who sat on your thumbs. Favre is a big boy and has earned the right to play more if he chooses. Johnny U did it, Montana did it, and their legacies went undamaged. Favres will also.

Time to let Green Bay move on..... Johnny U's legacy wasn't damaged but his level of play wasn't near the same.

Today's generation will not show the same respect to Farve that Unitas and Montana earned if he continues to play and plays sub-farve!
