Seems that more people are getting on the bandwagon now that postseason play has the Dexter Lady Bearcats in the MSHSAA Girls Class 4 final four. Well, congratulations to you for finally 'getting' what this blogger has been saying (read past blogs) all year!

The Lady Bearcats carry an impressive 28-0 record to Columbia along with their number one class 4 state ranking.

The road to the championship will not be an easy one!

The ladies will play their semi-final game at 6:40 on Thursday against Webb City (25-4), who is ranked number ten in state.

Webb City is led by Kaitlin Jaeger. The Cardinals, with 6-foot sophomore Jaeger scoring 26 points and 5-5 classmates Baker and Campbell wreaking havoc with their defense and ball-handling, beat number two state ranked St. James 60-39 on Saturday to advance to Columbia.

The other semi-final matchup is between Miller Career Academy (23-6) and Platte County (26-2).

Platte County is led by two time all state senior center Morgan Johnson. Johnson, 6-4, averages 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks per game.

Miller Career Academy defeated St. Dominic 44-39 Saturday to advance. The Phoenix shot 62% (16 of 26) from the field. Ciara Leak led the way for Miller Career Academy with 16 points, and Rashonda Willis added 10.

Send the Lady Bearcats a 'good luck' message here or go to Columbia and let them hear the fans of Southeast Missouri live inside the Mizzou Arena!

This blogger is going to attend the games and hopefully keep the Daily Statesman website up to date with scores as the games progress. Hope to see you there!

Good Luck Bearcats! Congratulations on your accomplishments this year!

Congratulations Lady Cats! All the hard work that you have put in is paying off. No matter what happens you have made this town proud just by the way you represent us on and off the court. Keep up the good work and best of luck at state!

Lady Cats, you're making an entire town proud, and you're making the ladies around here especially proud! You girls keep on keeping on, and don't let all the hype get to you...have fun, do what you do, and don't worry about anything else. You are the first Lady Cats to go all the way, and that in itself should make this all the more fun! Good Luck...the whole town of Dexter is right behind you!

Dolphin: Don't you think that will make them a bit paranoid?

Congrats to a team that plays the game the right way! Enjoy every second of it...these memories will last a lifetime!

Congrats Lady Bearcats! All of Stoddard County is behind you, for girls basketball you are Stoddard County's team. We love you all and wish you the best of luck! It's great when hard work and dedication make your dreams come true. Couldn't happen to a better group of girls!

Now an entire is county is right behind them.....I know they will feel a bit paranoid now. Dolphin, look what you have done.

BG: I think we need to educate some Dexterites on good eating and drinking establishments in CoMo!

DRowe's...hidden jewel for incredibly good food and fun atmosphere. First class and reasonably priced.

Tropical Liqueurs...for anyone who wants to dream of sipping an adult beverage on the beach. I suggest Tiger Paw/32 oz.

Layne, Bon....any help here?

-- Posted by shannonhoon on Tue, Mar 10, 2009, at 2:24 PM

I have to go with my old stand by, CJ's. Best wings I have ever eaten(and I have had a lot), and they have pitchers of ice cold beer. You can't beat it. I am going to beat Layne to this one, but if you like pizza, go to G & D's. They have "lots of pizza, lots of beer". And my last suggestion would be the Flat Branch Brewery. Great micro-brews and good food. Columbia is full of great places to eat and drink, these are just a few favorites.

And for any metalheads celebrating deep into the morning after LBB Victory..........I say head to The Diner for a STRETCH. Nothing like eggs, cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, chili, and salsa as an early AM/late PM snack!

-- Posted by shannonhoon on Tue, Mar 10, 2009, at 3:21 PM

Hoon, don't forget the Gordo-stretch for those who have an appetite as big as Layne's head.

-- Posted by BonScott on Tue, Mar 10, 2009, at 3:59 PM

Yep hoon, I see. I hope it makes them feel awesome, not paranoid. I know it's a lot of pressure, but these girls can handle it!

AGREE Flipper.....

Does NO ONE else have any eating/drinking suggestions for CoMo?

I miss $.25 draws at Fieldhouse.

Bon....what about the Old Une ?????????????????

-- Posted by shannonhoon on Tue, Mar 10, 2009, at 10:26 PM

You can get a good sneak peek for $.25 at the Old Une. Hoon, can we still get a tray of beer at Harpo's for $5.00? I think that is only on Thursdays.

-- Posted by BonScott on Tue, Mar 10, 2009, at 10:36 PM

The Blue Note always has hot entertainment and cold beer.

The Library of work at the Old Une is amazing....

You are right on the Thursday deal at Harpo's.

GREER comes through with the Blue Note....ahhh the days of Soul Asylum, Goo Goo Dolls, Jayhawks, and STP! If the Silver Bullet were still the Silver Bullet, DexterNation would eat that up too.

-- Posted by shannonhoon on Wed, Mar 11, 2009, at 12:19 PM

Some pretty good country acts came through the Silver Bullet. That was pretty fun back in the day....I can't believe we forgot the Black and Gold. If you want a stinky tavern and a stiff drink, that's the place.

-- Posted by BonScott on Wed, Mar 11, 2009, at 10:59 PM

You used Stinky and Stiff in the same sentence and DID NOT get censored? What? Citizen's Arrest! Citizen's arrest!

And the game is underway for those of ya'll that are keeping up with it. Girls are doing pretty well early! You can go to www.mshaa.com and watch the game for a fee of $5, or listen to it on our local radio station at 102.3 on the FM dial. LET'S GO BEARCATS, LET'S GO!!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 7:27 PM

Webb City up 28-14 at halftime. Kaitlyn Heil has 4 fouls. Abbie Warren has 3.

Going to have to dig for some of that intestinal fortitude in the second half!

-- Posted by greer958 on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 7:28 PM

Dexter shoots 6-30 (20%) from the floor in the first half... Webb City shoots 42%.

No one from Webb City is in foul trouble.

-- Posted by greer958 on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:02 PM

-- Posted by fun2teach on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:07 PM

Well, there's one more! God please be with these girls till the very last buzzer!!!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:10 PM

Final score 58-47 Webb City. Great job Lady Cats. You played your hardest!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:14 PM

We still have another game tomorrow night to decide 3rd and 4th place in the state. We're 28-1 for the entire season, which is still a great thing. This Lady Cat team has the best record in the history of the Lady Cats!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:18 PM

Good reporting mrsdolphin! Thanks a bunch!

-- Posted by greer958 on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 8:46 PM

Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat! These girls played their hearts out this season, and it shows! Good luck girls on your battle for 3rd place tomorrow afternoon!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Thu, Mar 12, 2009, at 9:00 PM

GREER...you don't DIG for fortitude. It is IN your intestines already and comes out when those who are weak start to give in!

Bon, Layne: GREER must not have played for
