What to do?Posted Monday, January 11, 2010, at 10:16 AM
The Rams need help all over the field. Offensively, quarterbacks Marc Bulger and Kyle Boller take an old-fashioned beating every week due to the fact that the St. Louis offensive line is one of the worst in football. The talented young Ram receivers seem to be injury prone. Steven Jackson seems to be the only positive as he continues to put up All-Pro numbers. Imagine what he could do IF he had an average blocking line and the Rams weren't forced to pass the ball as often. The Rams have made progress on the defensive side of the ball but still have quite a ways to go. There is a need for an all new secondary. The one area that shines for St. Louis is the kicking game. Josh Brown and Donnie Jones are among the best in the NFL. No changes needed here. So the big question is what should the Rams do come draft time? Offense, defense, or trade the top overall pick to try and fill a few needs? What would you do? Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Ruff Ruff!
I hope it is optimism!
Rumor has it the Rams are talking to Vick.
With their offensive line in such sorry shape, I don't know if even Peyton Manning could make a difference. Even in shotgun formation, the defensive line gets to the quarterback before the ball does. MUST have beef on the front line.
Ah yeah, the AINTS, who could forget them!
I was a Cowboys fan until Jerry Jones ousted Tom Landry, found it hard to root for them after that.
Call it optimistic (or dilusional), but I feel like the Rams were actually close to respectful in a few of those games in the second half of the season. I think with Suh, Long, and Laurinaitis, they will have the nucleus for a respectable defense. I believe the addition of Suh would allow for a huge improvement in Long's game. They absolutely need a QB though in the draft or via free agent (Vick?).
Whodat Hoon-in-a-bag?
The Cardinals were a given but the N.O. Aints?
Actually, there were four teams to choose from. You forgot the St. Louis Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints. I chose the Saints so I could put those paper sacks over my head.
Back in the day, you had to root for either Dallas or Pittsburgh. You had to make a choice. There is no way you could like both teams. I chose the Cowboys.
The two teams were quite similar when you look at it. Key players matched up head to head:
Quarterbacks, Roger Staubach and Terry Bradshaw
Running Backs, Tony Dorsett and Franco Harris
Receivers, Drew Pearson, Butch Johnson and Lynn Swann, John Stallworth
D Line, Randy White, Harvey Martin, Too Tall Jones, Hollywood Henderson and Jack Lambert, Mean Joe Greene, L.C. Greenwood, Jack Ham
D Backs, Cliff Harris, Charlie Waters and Mel Blount, Mike Wagner
Nice drop in with Randy White Bobby G. I was a HUGE Cowboys fan in the '70s and '80s.
Suh is a manster like Randy White......Half man, half monster.
I agree with the jersey business. Needs to be old-school.
I vote for the switcheroo also Tree!
Absolutely SUH! Although their past history of drafting defensive players in 1st and 2nd rounds is awful. Although, I have said for years that they need to switch back to the royal blue and yellow uniforms. No team wins the Super Bowl then changes uniforms the next season...bad charma. They will never win until they switch back.
No Brainer BG....SUH it is! A QB should still be available when the Lambs get to pick #2! He has the chance to be dominant and while any pick can be a bust, he seems like as close to a sure thing as any D Lineman recently. Plus, no thug U qualities about Ndomukong!
