Welcome to my world...

Posted Friday, June 15, 2007, at 8:50 AM

Hello to everyone and welcome to our new little world. Blogging is as new to us as it is to each of you so please be patient with us through this potentially exciting transition.

Blogging, which is very different from the typical style of news writing we are all accustomed to, will hopefully give us all the ability to be in better touch with our readers and those who frequent the site.

One major difference from newswriting is that I will be allowed to have an opinion in public once again. Some of them you will like, but I'm sure there will be plenty you don't so by all means sound off and let me know what you think. Hopefully this will be fun for both of us.

Choosing a title for a blog turned out to be a larger task than I had anticipated. I thought and dawdled back and forth with a few ideas before I finally settled on "Both Sides of the Gun." I really feel like that says a lot about where I plan to take this (and it's the title of one of my favorite albums). I want everyone to feel free to speak their minds and don't be afraid to take any side of an issue.

My plan at this point is to focus on a little bit of everything. There will be some discussion of local issues, some talk about the local music scene, some general entertainment chatter and whatever else pops into my head that I think you, the reader, might enjoy.

As I said, this is also new to us, so if you have any tips suggestions or ideas please shoot me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do.

I'd like to take this as an opportunity to introduce ourselves. Share what you wish as far as family, interests, music and movie tastes or just whatever comes to mind.

I look forward to talking with all of you and am anxious to see what the future holds for us.

Corey, I admit that when I first read this (Seems like years ago), I had no idea that you would post such interesting and lively blogs - and so many fascinating people would respond. I absolutely love this medium, and I hope it lasts forever!

Corey Noles' response:
So do I. I'm really pleased with how well it's going. It's nice to know what the readers think about some of these issues. I really had no intention of talking politics regularly, but it certainly looks like there are enough people willing. I wanted to focus this on local entertainment and a lot will be at some point here soon. There are a lot of interesting things going on in the area that people here don't even realize.

That's a good idea, but I wouldn't forget the politics. You have some real interest out there. Did you catch it where Jabelson said that he was "on a different continent" right now, so that's why he was posting comments at 4 a.m.?? How on earth did he find the Dexter Statesman site??

The clash of ideas is just great! I can't add comments to the arguments about Iraq, but I really do enjoy reading theirs!

Corey Noles' response:
I think jabelson said he is actually a Dexter native.

Yeah this really is a lot of fun. I have several interesting ideas for the next week or so.

Yeah, I finally found that comment about his being a Dexter native later this afternoon. Cool!! That makes it even better.
