A bit more on dog fighting...Posted Monday, October 29, 2007, at 10:14 AM
This may or may not interest some of you, but I thought I'd share the names of some of the dogs seized in last week's raid.
The names were released in a court docket late last week, adding charges for each individual dog believed to have been fought.
As I said earlier, the little white Pit Bull with the black is named Bandit. The humane society last week said they have received many calls on that dog in particular.
In no particular order, the dogs names are Rosa, Cujo, Bandit, Willie, Two Faces, Topper, Destiny, Black Sky, Zoey, Paige, Running Girl, Whitie, Apache, Cookie, Lady Bug and Stan. Names are not listed for several other dogs.
I did some research on Friday and discovered that a number of dog fighting rings have been shut down nationwide since the bust in Stoddard County.
It also surprised me to learn that the majority of these busts only find between 2 and 4 dogs. They also seized very little evidence, which goes along with what Kyle Held from the Humane Society told me in an interview last week.
Investigators were very fortunate to find the amount of evidence they did at this raid. Typically, larger organized rings go out of their way to keep dogs, ring, records and training equipment far away from one another.
Regardless, it's a disgusting crime, and while I understand no one has been proven guilty, there seems to be a lot of evidence pointing in that direction.
Only time will tell. Each of the three suspects will be in court Thursday morning, so you can look for an update on Friday.
