...and the winner is?!?!Posted Friday, February 1, 2008, at 1:30 PM
Well, I don't know who the winner is yet, but I've almost reached the conclusion that I'm not going to be happy no matter who wins. I know we have a few big names in this year's race, but all in all I'm simply not impressed.
Right now my gut feeling tells me that we're looking at choosing between Hillary and McCain in Nov.. Not much of a choice in my opinion. I'm not even going to talk about Hillary because I've made my opinion on that one pretty clear already. McCain's another story though. It's beyond me that he's still running as a Republican. In my personal opinion, the only Republican stance he has taken is his stance on the war. Other than that, if he gets the nomination he will be, by far, the most liberal Republican nominee in history. The only reason he's campaigning as a Republican is because he simply can't get elected as an Independent or Libertarian in this country. Frankly, that's a shame. That third party candidate can bring an interesting insight into the true happenings of government. A candidate with nothing to lose. The fact is that people just don't pay attention to them. Don't get me wrong, there have been plenty of whack jobs run for office as Independents but they shouldn't simply be discounted because they are not Democrats or Republicans. Chances are more of you fit that category than you think. Try this test and find out your true political identity. This is just for fun, but it's actually more accurate than you might think. I'm sure there are others out there, but this was the one that was linked from radio host Neal Boortzs' website. I will post a new blog either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning so we can chat about the results. Once again, I apologize for the long hiatus from the blogosphere here, but it's been a busy January to say the least. At this time Huckabee is only staying in to help McCain. He takes votes from Romney so there is no way for Romney to catch up. Pretty good political move on McCains part I guess.
Watch close, I guarantee you that Condoleeza Rice will be mentioned frequently as McCains running mate in the near future.
Maybe Colon Powell too but I think that would be far too liberal of a team. Sometimes I think Powell may actually be a Democrat even though he has always been associated with Republican Presidents.
I got in on the tail end of a televised meeting between Obama and Clinton that was positively buddy-buddy one day recently - I think they can do it again, if need be.
As for McCain, I've heard him speak in glowing terms about how much he admires Huckabee. Whether that's genuine - or calculated to win over Huckabee's conservative southern crowd...I don't know.

Clinton and Obama will forget every word they said about each other. They will disregard and defend each other's faults and weaknesses exposed in this campaign. They will likely change their views and stances more than a few times....all for the good of the country!
GL, it might be McCain and Rice if she would have it. That would ensure a woman and a minority in the White House no matter what.
Aha! I look into the crystal ball and see McCain choosing Huckabee for his running mate - and, quite obviously, it's Obama and Clinton (one way or the other), on the Democractic ticket.

It was an interesting experience to watch the election results, simultaneously with the tornado warnings! What a night! I am so thankful my house is still standing!
GL I am glad you just took the time to vote. I don't care who you marked your ballot for. A whole lot of people in this world aren't allowed to do that and a whole lot of people who can will not.

It is a pretty bad situation this time. I am eliminating people who I would not vote for versus picking who I think is the best. It is a sad thing.
To be honest about it I have great respect and admiration for McCain for what he has done and been through but that doesn't make me want him as President. In fact I think he is a little on the looney side and it may be caused by exactly what makes me admire him. I'd have to see his medical records before I would think otherwise.
Ah, too bad, I agree with you about your pretty boy, AJ. He would have been so pleasant to watch in the White House...
I'm afraid Romney's hair will break if he falls down.
I will vote tomorrow night, but Heaven only knows whose spot will get the mark.
My pretty boy lawyer is out,I'll never vote for the Huckster,and Romney has that creepy "tries-too-hard" factor that John Kerry had.Tuesday will narrow the field even more,for sure.
I'll vote for somebody,and I'll decide in November,when the worst of the scandals are revealed.

I agree, swift: I think it's gonna be between McCain and Obama.
I took the political quiz. I score as conservative/libertarian. However, I'm conservative on the social issues and lean libertarian concerning economic issues and the size of government.
I predict an Obama upset! I really think he'll get the Demo nomination. The Republican candidate who gets Missouri on super Tuesday will probably get the Republican nomination. That being said, I'm still voting for Huckabee. Romney would be my second choice.
