It's OK to wish me a Merry Christmas
As the Christmas season inches ever closer, I've noticed a very familiar battle playing out as it does every year and I ran a press release in this week's North Stoddard Countian about it.
As the list of stores choosing to wish Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas comes out, Christians are fighting back this year.
The release is in regard to a program entitled "It's OK to wish me a Merry Christmas."
The program is selling buttons and other items for people to wear to basically let others know that it's OK to wish them a Merry Christmas and NOT Happy Holidays.
Don't misunderstand me, I have no desire to offend anyone, but the fact is that Christmas is a Christian holiday. Not cultural or secular but Christian.
The fact is that 99 percent of the shoppers are celebrating Christmas.
I understand giving recognition to other holidays, but the fact is that what we are doing is ignoring the will of the majority to recognize the minority and that's no better than the alternative.
So, if you see me out in the next few weeks don't hesitate to wish me a Merry Christmas!!
