Cardinals DVD Contest - Question 1

Posted Sunday, April 15, 2012, at 3:49 PM

OK, folks. I explained the details of the contest and how it is going to work. If you missed that post, you can check it out here.

This week's question is to win a copy of "BASEBALL'S GREATEST GAMES: 2011 WORLD SERIES GAME 6 Bluray/DVD Combo Pack," donated by A+E Networks Home Entertainment/MLB Productions and slated for an April 17 release date. Get yours before it's available to the public if your name is selected.

The first question is:

In 2002, the St. Louis Cardinals had four Gold Glove winners. Who were they?

This is a pretty easy one to figure out (and Google is fine to use if need be). As we get into the bigger (and far more valuable) prizes, the questions will start to get more difficult.

Entries will be accepted from now until 12 noon (CST) on Thursday, April 12. The next day, I'll release question 2.

Answers may be submitted as comments on this specific blog post, via the mailbag forum on the blog at dailystatesman.com/blogs/coreynoles , via email to cnoles@dailystatesman.com as well as by stopping in The Daily Statesman office at 133 S. Walnut in Dexter. Make sure to include your name, address, telephone # and email address. Make sure I know a reliable way to contact you. If I don't receive a response within 24 hours after I attempt to contact you, I will have to draw another winner.

So, enter every week and tell your friends! It's a great opportunity to get some awesome baseball goodies for free courtesy of A&E Home Entertainment.

On Thursday, I'll put the names of all of the correct answers in a bowl and draw a winner.

If you don't win any of my copies, you can always stop by shop.mlb.com and pick up a copy for yourself!

The CORRECT answer is: 2B Fernando Vina, SS Edgar Renteria, C Mike Matheny & CF Jim Edmonds.

The Cardinals did not get Rolen until the trading deadline in '02 and their starting 3 bagger was Placido Palanco. Albert Pujols wouldn't get a Gold Glove until being moved to 1B, was the LF in '02, Tino Martinez won his GG while a member of the Yankees, started at first for St. Louis in '02, and the RF was J.D. Drew.
