Week 1 contest winner named, Week 2 question
Week 1 of the free DVD contest has now ended and another is just beginning.
The week one question was: In 2002, the St. Louis Cardinals had four Gold Glove winners. Who were they?
The correct answer was: second baseman Fernando Vina, shortstop Edgar Renteria, centerfielder Jim Edmonds and third baseman Scott Rolen.
Congratulations to Dennis Lorch of Advance, Mo. Who won the first week's contest.
Many correct answers were submitted and only a few incorrect answers. All of the incorrect answers wanted to name Mike Matheny, but Brad Ausmus was the catcher recipient in the National League for that year.
Here is the question for week 2: What past St. Louis Cardinal Pitcher has hit two World Series home runs during his tenure with the team?
This week I will be giving away TWO copies of the A+E Networks Home Entertainment/MLB Productions DVD "St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series Champions" highlight film. This commemorative edition includes highlights of the 2011 World Series as well as Game 5 of the NLDS between the Cardinals and Phillies in its entirety, one of the best pitcher's duels ever.
Entries will be accepted from now until 12 noon (CST) on Thursday, April 19. The next day, I will release question 3.
Answers may be submitted as comments on this specific blog post, via the mailbag forum on the blog at dailystatesman.com/blogs/coreynoles , via email to cnoles@dailystatesman.com as well as by stopping in The Daily Statesman office at 133 S. Walnut in Dexter. Make sure to include your name, address, telephone # and email address. Make sure I know a reliable way to contact you. If I don't receive a response within 24 hours after I attempt to contact you, I will have to draw another winner.
So, enter every week and tell your friends! It's a great opportunity to get some awesome baseball goodies for free courtesy of A&E Home Entertainment.
On Thursday, I'll put the names of all of the correct answers in a bowl and draw a winner.
If you don't win any of my copies, you can always stop by shop.mlb.com and pick up a copy for yourself.
