Cardinals go for sweep against Brewers
10:00 a.m.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sitting on the heels of one of the best starting pitching streaks in recent memory, the St. Louis Cardinals will look to sweep their division rival Milwaukee Brewers Sunday afternoon.
Left-handed pitcher Jaime Garcia (1-0) will take the mound and look to match the success of his last start that fell apart at the hands of Cardinals bullpen.
When he faced Cincinnati in the Cardinals home opener Monday, April 8, Garcia racked up six strikeouts on three runs and six hits over 6.2 innings. He worked the corners of the plate well and kept hitters off balance.
The Brewers will be throwing Marco Estrada who also looked good in his last outing against the Chicago Cubs where he gave up only two runs on five hits over seven innings pitched.
The Cardinals have hit Estrada well in the seven times they've faced to date batting .304 over 85 plate appearances. Several individual Cardinals have had success against him over his brief career, including Yadier Molina (6-for-10), Matt Holliday (4-for-8) and Daniel Descalso (4-for-6.)
Prior to today's game, catcher Yadier Molina will receive his Rawling's Gold and Platinum gloves in recognition for his 2012 defensive performance.
The first pitch will be thrown out at 1:15 p.m. today, so check back for more information throughout the day.

Cardinals starting pitchers lead MLB in ERA (1.99), CG (2), record (7-2). 1st in NL, 2nd in MLB in each of Ks (67), opp BA (.212) and ER (16).
That's quite the statement for this rotation.

In a brief pre-game press conference in the dugout Matheny talked extensively about Yadier Molina (see story later this week), getting bats in the lineup and pitch counts.
He said he's working hard to get playing time for a lot of guys right now and to expect the lineup to bounce around some while so many players are hot.
"We've got too many good players that we have to keep active," Matheny said. ""They're all playing so well and we need to keep them going. I have no hesitation putting any of them in right now."
Regardless of who is in the lineup, Matheny made it clear that the be all-end all goal is winning.
"You've got to realize what our job is," he said. "Our job is to win...This is more about 'we' then 'me'."
