Opening Day and my worst nightmare
I was one of 46,000 plus to have the opportunity to attend the St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day of the 2011 season. This was the third opening day that I have attended, and other than the outcome of the game, I was not disappointed. The Cards really know how to put on a great show for the fans. For those who have never had the experience of attending an opening day, you do not know what you are missing. The returning Hall of Famers, the Clydesdale horses, and the player introductions are some the highlights.
However, this day offered something different for those of us in attendance. I have been to many Cardinals vs Cubs games over the years, and have seen many Cubs fans at games where their team was not playing. This was a game where that was the case. There was one fan that was really "giving it to" Cardinal fans. This particular fan was wearing a Cubs jersey that had on the back of it the name Pujols and the number 5. This would be a Cardinals fan worst nightmare, perhaps the greatest player of this generation defecting at the end of the season for the Cubbies. Say it ain't so!!!
