Opening Day and my worst nightmarePosted Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 6:09 PM
Say It Ain't So!!!
However, this day offered something different for those of us in attendance. I have been to many Cardinals vs Cubs games over the years, and have seen many Cubs fans at games where their team was not playing. This was a game where that was the case. There was one fan that was really "giving it to" Cardinal fans. This particular fan was wearing a Cubs jersey that had on the back of it the name Pujols and the number 5. This would be a Cardinals fan worst nightmare, perhaps the greatest player of this generation defecting at the end of the season for the Cubbies. Say it ain't so!!! That picture is giving me nightmares!
Welcome aboard the Statesman blog train Jody!
A Cardinals fan, a Giants fan, & a Cubs fan are climbing a mountain & arguing about who loves his team more. The Giants fan insists he is the most loyal. "This is for the Giants", and jumps off the mountain. The Cardinals fan is next to profess his love for his team. He yells " This is for the Cardinals!" & pushes the Cubs fan off the mountain.
Man do I ever remember that guy. While I truly doubt he would play for Chicago due to the slim chance of a championship, seeing that photo and the guys jersey at the game really puts it in perspective. No matter how unlikely it IS possible. Yuck!
As the fans were deciding whether to beat the guy to a bloody pulp I saw they took his hat and threw it down about 20 rows. I would've felt sorry for him but he kept walking around strutting his stuff and asking for trouble. That late in the game he's lucky some drunk fan didn't beat him.
Despite the loss, it was a great day!
