A Rebel Yell in the U.S.A.
Over the past week or so I have seen a growing number of individuals who have their pickup trucks plastered with the Confederate Flag. Sometimes they have more than one flying high on their truck as they "hotrod" around Southeast Missouri in what appears to be an attempt to tell the government, "See me? I know what this flag stand for and I believe in it!", when in fact they probably don't know what they are talking about.
People have their right to free speech and I have no problem what so ever with it. Yesterday however, something really started getting to me. I seen probably a dozen "Rebel Flags" flying from vehicles. Proud people from the South.
My issue is this; Rememeber the days / months following September 11, 2001? The people living in this country suddenly became so patriotic that you could not go anywhere without seeing Old Glory flying high. The majority of cars had American Flag magnets on the back showing off that the American People were behind our country.
Then something changed. American Flags began disappearing. I mean seriously, attempt to remember the last time you seen one of those magnets on the back of a car. Of course we still see the red, white, and blue flying in yards, on poles at government buildings, etc., however where is the support from the American People now?
Instead of causing an outcry protesting or supporting the marriage of two people who you do not even know or the racial war that has broken out in our country that apparently is directly related to the Confederate Flag, we as a people need to remember what our country was founded on. Our country is in shambles and until we remember that our flag stands for freedom (and we start taking it seriously, not using that freedom to cause more problems), we are doomed as a nation. It does not matter who the president is now or who it will be in 18 months.
