Blog on!Posted Monday, July 16, 2007, at 9:54 PM
After having checked out these blogs for about a week now, I admit that it's a totally different medium than the one I'm used to. We write news stories each week for the North Stoddard Countian, and we manage to come up with a column every two weeks - but I have yet to get the hang of this blogging thing!
I'm following the other Statesman bloggers carefully, and I think they're doing a terrific job! I'm especially impressed with Corey and Minnie (whoever she may be!). Corey's blogs are attracting the most fascinating participants! They are remarkably well-informed and articulate. One of them is even going to school overseas and is logging onto the old Dexter website from London or Paris!
Wow! The clash of ideas is all the more interesting because (unlike live action) they can't interrupt each other and try to shout each other down. I hate that! These blogs are so much more civilized. When they get too intense or personal, there's always someone to come in and say, "Hey, guys, this is what we've fought for -- the right for everyone to speak their mind!"
With Minnie O'Pausal's blog, I find myself thinking, "Wow, I could've written that!! As I read it, I say, "Yeah, this is ME!" Like when she came out with, "I am my mother" - I almost fell over! How many times have my children said, "Mom, you're gettin' just like Gram!"
"No, I'm NOT!" I shout -- but I know they're right!
Some of you may have had experience with chat rooms, but this is a first for me, and I find that I like it quite exceedingly well!
There's just one problem that I can see. I'm spending way too much time, checking them out! Next thing you know, I'll be staying up all night, like some of the others....
One way or another, this is a really terrific experience. So - to whoever thought it up for the Statesman -- thanks! And thanks for giving the NSC staff a chance to join you in this fantastic voyage into the technological future of journalism!!
