Essex pups to be at Petco this SundayPosted Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 10:19 PM
I've covered several Bollinger County dog abuse cases with Marilyn Neville of Ace of Animal Behavior; she is fostering the pups, along with two Lab Mix pups at her rural home near Zalma, Mo. Marilyn is great to work with - a truly dedicated animal lover, who has saved a number of animals in the area by finding homes for them. In fact, my sister in Springfield, Mo. has two corgis that Marilyn rescued in the Zalma area.
Today I just got word that Marilyn will have the Essex Beagle mix pups - along with the Lab mix pups - at Petco in Cape Girardeau on Sunday, July 22 from noon to 4:30. She will be representing both Safe Harbor, the rescue shelter in Fruitland, and the Sikeston Shelter. Both shelters do wonderful work with animals that have been dumped, abandoned, or abused. Hopefully, she will have enough volunteers to help her bring all the pups to Petco. There's never enough money for these causes, so if anyone has any extra funds lying around --- you know where I recommend that they go! When my mother died last year, we asked that donations be made to the Springfield animal shelter in her name. It's a wonderful tribute.
Petco has been excellent in supporting local animal rescue shelters with donated food and publicity for adoptions.
I'm going to try to post a photo of the Essex pups on this blog. First time I've done that, so let's hope it works! (I don't think it did! I'll have to call in the Big Guns for help!)
