Life is too shortPosted Friday, August 3, 2007, at 7:41 AM
This morning, as I groggily drink my coffee, trying to adjust to having spent the evening at a loooooong meeting, I'm thinking about how much of our lives we spend in activities which really don't mean much.
So I'm gonna do one of these blogs which doesn't take much effort on my part, but which gives all you readers a chance to virtually write the blog yourself. I'll start it: Life is too short.......to spend it at boring meetings. Life is too short.......to work all the time and leave your family to fend for themselves. Life is too short.... to wear tight shoes, tight underwear or teeth that don't fit. Life is too short...to worry about things you can't change. ...too short to hold a grudge.
...too short to not eat chocolate for the sake of your figure.
...too short to be afraid of making a fool of yourself.
...too short to wear a girdle or pantyhose.
...too short to let others with less than charitable motives dictate what you feel, or say, or do.
...too short to let petty jealousy (yours or other's) rob you of joy.
...too short to do things for fun that you don't enjoy.
...too short to close your mind or heart to new experiences.
...too short to stop playing.
...too short to not read for the pure enjoyment of it.
...to short to stop learning.
to short to let politics consume your life.
to short to let bad golf scores bother you
to short not to love your neighbor.
to short not to trust God.
too short not to sit on the front porch and enjoy the rain.
too short not to watch a sunset.....or a sunrise.
too short not to look at the moon.
too short not to throw a frisbee for your dog.
too short not to call your mom.
too short not to take a walk down the lane.
too short not to laugh at a good joke, even if it's about septic tanks.
The single most booorrriiinnngggg thing I've ever done in my life was sit through a city council meeting when I was in my very early 20s. Too bad I don't snore, since it might have gotten me kicked out and saved me from going into a state of mental comatoseness. I haven't attended a city council meeting since, and that was ... well ... lets just say a few moons ago.
This is a long way of saying that I absolutely, positively agree with your lists #1 item: Life is too short.......to spend it at boring meetings.
...too short to keep the good china hidden all the time
...too short not to wear pink (or purple)more (but only if you're female)
...too short to obsess about weeds
...too short not to try Hollaindaise sauce
...too short not to change your hair color at least once
...too short not to laugh till you gasp for breath
...too short to waste time cleaning under the refrigerator
...too short to count calories
...too short not to count calories!
Hahahaha!! Actually, a refrigerator repairman once told me that if you didn't keep your coils vacuumed, the motor would burn out..
Of course, I've had my refrigerator for 32 years, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've vacuumed underneath..
Maybe it keeps running because it's harvest gold and too embarrassed to admit it..
Life is too short to change refrigerators because you want a new color...
Keep your coils vacuumed and your good china on the table!!
...too short to be brainwashed by the
incredible humanistic pressures
...too short to miss learning the
alphabet:
A- A wise son maketh glad a father
B- Better is a little with
righteousness
C- Come unto me all ye that labour
D- Do not this abominable thing that
I hate
E- Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the Kingdom of God
etc.,etc.,etc
...too short to miss spending your
birthday (with your sister) at the
Mississippi River never leaving the
bank or your chair all day
...too short to never have close ties
that bind
...too short to sit on the sidelines
and watch what happens
...too short to always invest your
emotions toward specific outcomes
and miss the surprise
...too short to not make use of your
talent
...too short to miss the beauty of the
ordinary that lies at your feet
...too short to get upset about the
"spills" in life
...too short to miss seeing the beauty
of a November sky. It's as if the
oceans were tossed into the sky by
the turn of a season season
...too short to not "pull focus" toward
home and loved ones
...too short to miss climbing that
mountain, enjoying the journey
even with childlike steps as an
adult
...too short to miss encouraging someone
to join you in going to church
...too short to enable obstacles to
challange you so that you fail to
see that perserverance will conquer
all
Who are we kidding?! Life is just
plain tooooooo short.............
A to Z, life is too short for all that.
