Lone boot seen on 60

What the???

I took this puzzling picture while driving east on Highway 60 near Dexter today, and I'm dying to know what one boot, obviously leather, is doing posted beside the highway not far from the Hwy 25 overpass????

Any guesses??

I can't imagine the owner being unaware that he had lost such an item. It would seem rather obvious if he were wearing only one boot...It surely couldn't have slipped off his foot accidentally.

And it's strange that a passing motorist would have seen the boot and stopped to stick it on a post beside the highway.

Looks like an expensive boot, too!

I assume that there is no FOOT in the boot...

Is there a one-legged Cossack in the area??

Puzzling! Very puzzling!

I would suspect that someone saw it on the side of the road and put it on the stick so anyone looking for it could see it easily.

If it's still there the next time you pass, grab it for the Perkins Shoe Tree:

My first thought if this was the scene of a fatal accident, he died with one boot on.

Just my weird mental rambling.

Looks like a motorcycle boot to me. It's morbid to think there was an accident and the injured guy was carried off in the ambulance with only one boot.

I knew you'd show up on this blog, Ken! I thought of the Perkins pole, too!

Well, it appears to me that a witch with one wooden leg made an unexpected dive-bomber landing. The rest of her/him could very well be buried, leaving her/his wooden leg above ground. Hey--I'm nothing if not creative. Perhaps one of your fellow-bloggers would edge near enough to check that theory. I'm too far away, or I just might. Of course, that could alter the first line of the story forming in my imagination.
