Another town closed on MondayPosted Monday, October 29, 2012, at 1:04 PM
This is as close as we got to the Blue Owl Restaurant...
We're driving back from Minnesota, and we decide to stop in Kimmswick, Missouri to eat lunch at the much-touted Blue Owl Restaurant. I've never been there, and it looks as if today isn't going to change that. The entire town is closed, a lady on the street informs us. The little town looks as if it's set up for tourists, looking for quaint shops that sell various unique--perhaps homemade--perhaps country--items. However, the day is not a total disaster, as the sun is shining, and the weather is a marked improvement over Friday, when the wind almost blew us off the road. I'm always interested in old towns which have re-invented themselves. And--I'm almost home, armed with photos of my four precious grandchildren! On another good point--It's really doubtful that Hurricane Sandy, which they're calling the "Storm of the Century," will be able to reach Missouri. Just another good reason to live in the Heartland! Another day, Kimmswick! |
