Do you recognize this plant?
Continuing in my sluggardly tradition of posting one pitiful piece per month, I decided this morning to regale my readers (if there are any left) with a "flower"...er...plant ....er..growing THING... that I found on my lane this morning. The weather is finally cool enough (Thank you, God!!) for me to venture outside the house in the early morning.
I remember having seen this alien-looking plant years ago, when my husband found it growing in the shadow of the sumac, honeysuckle, and poison ivy.
At the time, we found the plant listed in a Missouri Conservation fact sheet that may have come from a booth at the Semo Fair. Not really sure, and I can't remember the name -- "Dragon Blood"??? Surely not! My mind must be playing tricks on me.
I've never done more than just LOOK at the beautiful beaded object; after all, these plants always sit back under the shade of the blackberry briers, and I have no intention of risking poison ivy contamination.
I'm open to suggestion - Anybody know what it is? I know it looks like a raspberry, but it isn't. It grows upright on a thick stalk, with one single "bloom."
