It's the little things...

If there's one thing I've learned in this "meno" state that I've been forced into against my will, it is how to appreciate the "little things"…the things that we always took for granted in years past for which we now find ourselves pausing and cherishing the moment. A few come to mind…
RAIN!!!
A good writing ink pen
A good fitting bra
Oprah
A good hair day (head, face, legs and nose)
A friend who listens
A breeze while weeding
A grandchild's rush to you for an unabandoned hug
The aches and pains after a day well spent outside
Those free return address labels
A "close in" parking spot at the mall (God forbid I should have to walk a few feet)
A $3 scratch off winner
Seeing an old enemy who has gained more weight than you have! (always a good thing)
Great looking shoes that FEEL great (a rare find)
Reading the obits and not recognizing any names
I'm sure you have your own "little things." Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

I think we should resurrect this blog. We don't have enough blogs going!
I WANT MORE BLOGS!!!!
Somebody say something profound!!!
Electricity, a smile from a grandchild, a hug from a friend, a service man/woman home safe ,a loving god
Support hose.
Snooze alarms.
And my favorite, of course, the smell of vanilla.
A warm lap-cat on a cold morning.
The sound of the "Good Humor" truck on a warm summer's evening.
The sound of children laughing.
The way my dogs wag their whole bodies when I come home at night.
My brother's back rubs.
Hugs from the kids.
An early morning walk when all the world is still.
Finding a forgotten five-dollar bill in a coat pocket.
The smell of freshly mown grass. Particularly if I didn't have to mow it (or maybe more if I did do the mowing).
The sounds of my siblings talking quietly together in the morning when they're trying not to wake up the rest of the house during a family visit.
A steaming mug of hot cocoa - with marshmallows.
A soft drink that's so cold there are little bits of ice slush still floating in the can.
Washing my hair to get all that gunk out after I've been to the beauty shop.
Blogging with my buddies. Blog on!
Visiting somewhere, where it RAINS!!! (Only thing better would be sitting on my OWN front porch and watching it rain in Southeast Missouri!)
A hot cup of coffee early in the morning
Being the first one up in the morning
Watching the birds and squirrels on the feeder
A good night's sleep
Walking arm in arm with someone you like
Watching your grandson taste macaroni 'n cheese for the first time
Getting a smile out of that serious salesgirl at the ice cream counter
Having a friendly conversation with a stranger in line at the DMV...or the grocery store...or anywhere else, for that matter...
Playing frisbee with a border collie
Reading "The Hobbit" to your son, and having him laugh at the funny parts
Unexpectedly finding someone who likes the same cartoons you do - "Far Side," "Calvin 'n Hobbs," and "Dilbert"
Going out to the goat pen and finding a healthy new baby, trying out its legs for the first time
Uninterrupted bathroom time
Finches chirping in the trees
The sound of rushing water (as long as it's not in my house)
Church chimes
Cheap movie tickets
