Good Friends

How I enjoyed meeting with Cake and Goatherder this a.m. for a good old sign-holding, picketing, almost bra-burning protest of blogging wages. With her black bolero trimmed with gold sequins, I recognized goatlady right away and while we caught up, there appeared Cake, with a red rose in her teeth, and little black velvet bows in her hair, and that lovely leather vest with the trailing fringe to her arthritic knees, she was a vision!

Who could resist the persuasions of such a titillating (that's why no bra-burning) trio; certainly not our esteemed publisher. And so, Minnie has been amply compensated for all of her backbreaking efforts in keeping up with this (again) titillating blog, thanks to the friendly and at times not-so-friendly pressures applied by my dear budding bloggists, without whose efforts I would no doubt have had to resort to canned sardines (remember those, girls?), and here I am without my church key.

It was good to imagine the get-together anyway, girls!

Well, Minnie, these days I just don't have the heart to burn those bras! They are in such an important place that I don't dare add them to the fire!

I'm so glad I found out what a bolero was - and where to wear it!! And Cake Lady was an absolute vision of loveliness with her little wisps of grey hair tucked up in those bows! With her old arthritic fingers, I wonder how she did it?

But I thought the highlight of the entire demonstration was when she danced the flamenco on the roof of your publisher's car!! I wonder if he'll be able to get those dents out?

Well...cane...walker...WD-40..black boleros...It all made for a stellar event, well worth all the planning and effort which went into it!

There is no doubt that we four Ladies of Quality will have to begin planning right away for the next big demonstration!! Now, all we need is a CAUSE, and I feel sure that one will come along....perhaps quite soon!

Oh Goat Lady, you ARE astute! Let's start a campaign to raise money for the very first Minnie Mart! Why, we could play submiminal "give Minnie a raise!!" messages for all the world to hear! Come on Ladies of Quality - that's it!!! Ladies of Quality Minnie Mart - the LQ Mart!!!! How brilliant. Minnie could display her new Blog Book! Ducky could head the cosmetic department, you could sell little bearded-faced goatlings, and don't forget...cakes!!!!

Yellow Rose, glad to see you here, dear one! You are most heartily welcome on this blog....even if you do sound a bit young.. You can add a new perspective, like I.B.LeTruth does with his all-male perspective...

(Whispered side remark for your ears only...Maybe I won't misunderstand you, as I have done recently! 'Nuff said!)

And Cake Lady, I appoint you, of course, head of the cake-decorating committee for our upcoming Ladies of Quality Minnie Mart fundraiser.

Please do not put me in charge of furnishing meat!!!

Hey GoatLady-Are you a vegetarian or a vegan? Do you raise your goats for pets or are they sold to carnivores?

My grandparents raised them but they were dairy/pet goats. They had the best cheese and they weren't into us yard apes invading their turf!

My grandpa had guinea hens in the front yard and goats in the back. He hated yardwork as much as me!

Heaven forbid that I should furnish my sweet little goats and goatlings for those horrible carnivores!! Especially the ones who sell "goatburgers" over in the hills of that nearby city which starts with a "P"!!!

My goats are pet brush goats, a necessity out here where the hills have 45 degree angles.......

I am trying mightily to convert to vegetarianism, though I haven't gone vegan yet. Can't do without honey, even if my eating it constitutes bee oppression!!

Yellow Rose!!! Hey, girlfriend. Glad to see you on Minnie's blog tonight. I wasn't going to blog for a while due to a bit of a bad taste left in my mouth today by another blog (no, never you, Minnie Dearest). I'm glad I decided to come visit my new old friends.

Doesn't it feel like we've been friends forever? Like we grew up together. I guess we did - just in different places.

Sometimes all I can do is read and laugh and wonder at the wit. I'll never stray again. I promise.

Now, as far as that "boss" thing, Minnie hereby designates this Friday as "No Boss Day," so you just blog away all your little yellow heart desires. You are hereby granted Saturday off while we're at it. Of course, you may have many days off in the future if you celebrate No Boss Day tomorrow. Your call!

Happy No Boss Day, girls!!! Wonderful idea....Who needs them, anyway?? (Except when payday rolls around..)

I'm an Advil addict, myself. Well, generic ibuprofen....any brand'll do...

Tonight we shall be headache free, as the work week comes to a crashing close, freeing us for all manner of wild, wooly, free-wheeling fun-loving, raise the roof antics!!!

I plan to polish my toenails and clean out the refrigerator....

What about you, girlfriends?? How do you spend your wild weekends??

I searched Hallmark today for a card depicting No Boss Day, but they seemed to be lacking in that department...must make a mental note to let them know my disappointment. We all know how long those mental notes last.
As far as a wild weekend, I'm thinking of weed-eating and eating ice cream. Think my blood pressure is rising at the thought. This is pretty exciting stuff. Everything is relative.
Alright, women with a headache free night. What a night this could be.

Truthy...don't get too excited. We're talking about women who herd goats and consider toenail painting a weekend highlight, not to mention the wearing of boleros and little velvet clip-on bows. And if they serve you cake..., better have a will in order.
Herding goats, weedeating, cleaning the refrigerator, polishing toenails, dressing up in boleros, velvet clip on bows, playing cake roulete, eating ice cream and no headache. Isn't that a dream? Maybe you are right. A will would be in order.

Well, I'm back from my wild night of hysterial toe-nail painting at the local Nail Polish Boutique and Goatherder Supply Company.

Wish you girlfriends could have been there! My good friend Emma won the rhythmic ribbon dance contest with a beautiful number which she taught her goat Petunia. She chose a Hungarian Rhapsody. Petunia's footwork was excellent!

Minnie, you might check Walmart for those No Boss greeting cards. I think I saw a couple down at the bottom of the display next to the "Over the Hill" cards.

As for I.B.....cool your jets, mister! We never joke about headaches....That's serious business in the over-60 crowd...

I worked for a hairy eyed boss once. She was a tyrant. I tried that killing her with kindness thing and she turned out to be just a regular ole nice person under a lot of stress and part of it was me.

Thanks for your sage advice everyone.I try to be sincerely pleasant to all my co-workers,and since I've been able to fake that,we co-exist peacefully.

I work with several older ladies and our boss, Mr. Harry Iball.I love to listen to the gals talk about the years of tanning with baby oil and iodine,as they head out the door with their sodas and junkfood to take their smoke breaks and get a little sun. They brag it is so easy now with tanning beds, you can fry year round.

My plan to takeover the world is simply to outlive them.

If they're using tanning beds and smoking, especially at their advanced...er...mature age, then you will undoubtedly outlive them, my dear.

Don't we give marvelous advice? Cake Lady is sooooo helpful! Now, if she will just share her recipe..... (A pinch of arsenic..a fourth teaspoon of oleander...a dab of nightshade...)

I had one of those hairy-eyed bosses once. One of my friends said I should pray for him. I thought she was crazy, but I did it, regularly, sincerely and fervently. About a month later he was gone. Just transferred, cake lady, but gone, nonetheless. Now I have a wonderful boss, and she's a great person to work with.

Life is good.
