Gerald BeamPosted Monday, October 15, 2007, at 2:13 PM
My name is Sarah Peard, I am the daughter of Gerald W. Beam. My Dad is a long time resident of Dexter Missouri. Our dear Dad was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain cancer. As you can imagine my family and I are just hurting deeply by this news. Our Dad is a man of God as well as our entire family, we feel that God is working each day to heal him and will cure him of this deadly disease.
We have received so many cards, letters, phone calls, emails about how to get in touch with our Dad, and we were wondering if you could put something in your paper to let people know that the Beam family appreciate all thoughts and prayers for our Dad. Dad is in Columbia Missouri at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and will continue to be there through his radiation and chemo treatments. Can you please let people know that they are more than welcome to email, and send letters to Dad there and here is the address and email address to do so, with our faith in God and constant encouragement and uplifting messages we will fight this! If you should have any comments or questions do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and attention with this matter. God Bless, Sarah Patient Mail Hospital volunteers deliver mail, packages and flowers to patients Monday through Friday, except on postal and University holidays. Patients may send mail by giving the items to a hospital volunteer. Volunteers also will purchase stamps for you if needed. Mail received after you are discharged will be forwarded to you. Your father will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I will pass the information along to my father, Rev. Heitman, in Matthews, if he isn't aware already. We live a few miles north of Columbia so if you are in the area visiting your father and have any need, let us know.

You cannot imagine how hard it hit us when we get the news about your illness. It brought us to a renewed burden of prayer. We have not stopped prayer since we received word and we will continue. We wish there was more we could do. We want you to get better soon and return to us here in Dexter. We miss just knowing you are here. You have been such a man of God and a source of strength for so many. May God continue to bless and heal. He is a mighty God and can do all things. We love you both.

Hello Friends and Family!
Daddy is doing well, and is on his 5th week of radiation. We are hoping that he will be done with treatment and will be home for Thanksgiving. Thankyou so much for all your thoughts and prayers, they have kept us going each and every day. The letters and emails are just so heartfelt and we will treasure them always. We are a blessed family.
Dear Family and Friends~
Alot has changed since I last wrote, Since Daddy has been home he has suffered more seizures and the latest one (Dec 24th) put him back in the hospital, Daddy has no feeling on his left side. They took more test and ran another MRI and they found out that Daddy's tumor they removed has since grown back and this one is bigger than before, Daddy was flown to Columbia, MO on Jan 2nd, and on Jan 3rd he underwent his 2nd brain surgery to remove this tumor. Daddy came through surgery fine, however still no feeling on his left side. The Dr had another MRI done and it showed another tumor that they did not notice. This afternoon a blood clot was found on his left leg, they put a block in his stomach and all is well as far as that. Daddy is very weak, and in alot of pain. This is very hard on him, and it is very hard on our family. Monday the Dr will meet with other specialist and determine the next plan of action. We are still not giving up, and still leaving our faith in Jesus. He is our comfort and our rock. The almighty physician, we are still believing in miracles! Please continue to pray for our Daddy and our family as we continue on this journey...
God Bless,
The Beam Family~
