Dog's in the doghouse!

I'm sure that most of you have heard the latest turn in the life of Duane "The Dog" Chapman, otherwise known as Dog the Bounty Hunter.
This is probably my daughter's favorite reality show series. And despite the tattoos and slightly rugged appearance of the Dog and his crew, they have a deep-seated faith in God and seem like such genuinely nice people that I don't have a problem letting her watch the show from time to time. Then came the latest news from the "dog pound." Seems that one of Dog's numerous children was dating a girl of either African American or Hispanic background, depending on what news report you read, and during a private conversation at home over the phone with his son, Dog dropped the "n" bomb, not once, but apparently several times. Dog's son taped the conversation and then sold the tape to the National Enquirer for a large sum of money. Of course, the tabloid jumped at the chance to have a tape of the Dog, someone the general public seemingly loves to bash, saying a word repeatedly that should never be used, especially in reference to people from any type of ethnicity. A&E, the cable channel that airs the Dog's show, has canceled the show for the foreseeable future. I DO NOT condone the use of that word. Period. I don't care what your background or color, you still deserve to be treated like everyone else. There is no need for using words like that at all. That being said, I'm going to defend the Dog a little bit. He was IN HIS OWN HOUSE having PRIVATE conversation with his son, on HIS OWN TELEPHONE. This was not a comment made in a public place or on television or anything of that sort. The man was in his own domain speaking privately to a single person on the telephone. When did the general public get to start telling people what they can and can't say in their own home? Does he not have the right to say whatever he wants on a private call inside his own home? When does someone lose that right? While I don't condone his choice of wording, I believe that in a private setting inside a home where no one outside of your family is going to hear you, you pretty much have the right to say whatever you want, don't you? I myself have probably said some things at home that I wouldn't want everyone to know about, but I sure wouldn't apologize to someone for speaking my mind in my own home. What are your thoughts on this? And let's not make this a racial issue, because that's not what I want this to be about. As I have said, I don't condone anyone using that word. What I want to focus on is whether or not he should have had the right to say whatever he wanted in his own home without fear of having to apologize or even losing his job. What do you think? Let the Dog be. He catches more bad guys than the police. He said he was sorry. That should end it. His SON on the other hand should be ashamed of himself. Drugs have a way of ruining EVERYONE'S lives.
I, also, do not condone any kind of racial slander, WHATSOEVER! I will put my opinion on that subject upon whoever I hear say it (especially if my kids are around). That includes my family or a stranger on the street, no matter what their race or ethnicity. As far as what Dog did, I think his son should be sued in some form or fashion. It was a private conversation that took place in the privacy of Dog's home. Having your voice recorded in certain situations isn't even admissible in a court of law. So how can this hold up?
I KNOW I have said things in my own home that I wouldn't want ANYONE else hearing. But that is why I said them in my home! You make such a good point Sacha...keep up the great blogging.
It just shows what a loser Tucker Chapman is-he was poor businessman at using and dealing drugs, got caught and went to the pen.
His Dad never gave up on him,and gave him a job,(the promise of which weighed heavy on him being given parole).
Not every ex-con gets an instant job and home to come out to.
Instead of hunkering down, and making himself lovable to his Dad's faithful audience,he pulls a con on his Dad!
On CNN,it was reported he got 15,000 for the tape-what a stupid, stupid kid.
Another poor business decision on his part.
A&E would have paid much more to keep the tape (quite a bargaining tool when it comes to renewal of Dog's contract),or TMZ sure would have paid more, even old Beth would have dipped into her acrylic nail fund to keep the tape.$15,000 is really a joke, with the cost of living in Hawaii!
On the other hand, maybe Dog can now star in a new reality show,"Told You So" chronicling the psychic predictions of most parents,or maybe Monique and Tucker can star in "Parasites in Paradise".
This isn't an entertainer making public rascist remarks,it's someone saying I am not rascist, but we use rascist slurs when we are in private, don't tape us and sell the tape to the Enquirer,we should not have to censor ourselves.
Isn't the law in many states, including our own, only one party has to know they are being taped?(That only has to be the person doing the taping,as long as they are part of the conversation).I never was much into Mullet Man,but he seems to have hit the nail on the head, why should he and his family lose everything because they caught this girl trying to tape them in their private time?
Dog is an ex-con,he works with a rough bunch, wow,he doesn't sound like Joel Osteen in reality-why is anybody surprised? He and his brood have filthy mouths, dress weird, chain smoke around little kids,he has all these kids he never raised,(so he may have paid child support, but was neglectful with their raising)but why are people acting so surprised one he didn't raise stabbed him in the back?
He should have listened to his own rant, and he wouldn't be in this mess.
Seems like his true personality came out to me. Not the one he exhibits on TV. I don't understand why he was on TV anyway.
I agree with your comments regarding the personal life of Mr. Chapman being exactly that, his personal life. I guess I have mellowed as I gained a mature age, I am 64 years old. I retired from the LA County Sheriff's Department. You would think I would look down on Mr. Chapman's activities. Most of my retired friends have made comments regarding Mr. Chapman.
I think bounty hunting is a necessary evil. With out that job designation there would be thousands of individuals, who have jumped bail, thumbing their collective noses at the system. Flawed it might be, but without the bail system allowing the Bounty Hunters to do their job, there is a likely that there would be no bail system at all.
I have written A&E and expressed my opinion of their attempt to cover their collective backsides. Mr. Chapman, although possibly a closet racist, has the right to his opinion and when given the background that it was a betrayal by his own son that has now been facilitated by A&E and others, all I can say is shame on you. If this trend continues we truly will have the thought police among us.

Really rons1210,your comment is really the most credible one made yet, enough said! Hats off to you sir.
A person MUST be able to have total freedom in his own home! That's one issue. If he hurts someone or commits a crime, that's a separate issue. If he holds himself up to be a hero and savior of lost souls, but holds bigotry in his heart, that's another issue. This is a complicated, multi-leveled situation. Bottom line: Brother, know thyself. I think there is major denial going on here, saying "I love Black people" ... and all the spin tactics. Dog & Beth are rednecks - classic. They don't mean a lot of the slurs, but they don't take the trouble to understand what any kind of slur IS and DOES to both the person holding that reality in their heart, and the people affected by such energy. It's detrimental to all. Sorry, Chapmans ... the piper is calling. Yes, they did a lot of good things, but they also got hero treatment when they didn't deserve it. The ride is over - truth is out - no amount of spin can replace honesty and self-understanding. There is absolutely no place for bigotry in this day and age ... let's be an example of that reform.
I don't watch "Dog" and don't care about him one way or the other, but I think he has the right to express his opinion in his own home. Whether I disagree with his opinion or the way he stated it is irrelevant. It was wrong of his son to tape and sell it. The only reason anyone was willing to buy it was because the father is on tv. I think we pay far too much attention to so-called celebrity's private lives.
