Deer hunting saga continuesPosted Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 10:12 AM
Sorry guys, I came down with pneumonia earlier this week and have been out, that's why I haven't updated my blog. So, now that I'm back, let's get down to it!
Some of you may remember a few years ago I wrote a column on my husband and the ongoing deer hunting saga that is his life. I love my husband dearly, but a great white hunter he is not! Year before last, he finally got his first deer. It was an average size six-point buck. After more than 10 years of faithful hunting, he was so happy to get that deer. And I was so happy for him. Sometimes it seems like the deer mock him when he gets out into the woods. He finds all the signs - droppings, scrapes, hoof prints. He will even go out and see plenty of deer before opening day. Then, when he gets out there with his gun, suddenly every deer in the area is AWOL. They mock him. Meanies. Last year, he didn't get a deer. After the rush of getting his first one the year before, he was a little depressed about not getting another. Now, opening weekend has come and gone and he hasn't gotten a deer. However, he has SEEN some this year. However, the friend he was hunting with managed to scare them all away when he shot at one and missed early Saturday morning. So, as the next weekend approaches, I am sure to keep up the hope that he will get another deer. If anyone has any superior hunting tips, they would be greatly appreciated. Or, if you have bagged your trophy already this year, take a moment to brag about it! Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Just wanted to brag about my son who is 12 years old. This is his first year hunting and he got a 8 point. His dad is very envious and eager to try to beat him.
