My Valentine's roses!

This may seem like a silly blog topic after so long of not posting, but with it being Valentine's Day, this subject has been on my mind all day.

Of course, there has been delivery after delivery of flowers brought into our office. My own sweet, loving husband of almost 10 years sent me a dozen beautiful roses that I adore.

But it never fails that one or two women in an office won't get a special delivery for a variety of different reasons. Maybe they don't have a significant other or that significant other is now deceased. Or maybe their significant other just doesn't realize the importance of the almighty flower.

Now guys, don't think I don't understand where you are coming from. A dozen roses more than double in price on this day and hey, they are just going to die in a few days anyway.

But, you have to realize, we as women do understand this, however, we just can't help ourselves from watching the door to our office or home at every beautiful bouquet that is delivered. Flowers mean a lot to a woman, and here's a helpful hint guys -- the joy that is brought with a bouquet more than makes up for the fact that the flowers will just die in a few days. The memory of your caring will live with your loved one for the rest of her life. I think that makes it worth the extra cost!

And family members should also take a little time on this day to remember those who don't have significant others for one reason or another. I made sure to send my mom, who is divorced, a bouquet of flowers today so that she wouldn't feel left out of all the love being spread around. After all, remember this: Dozen roses, $89; mylar ballons, $15; the smile on the face of the woman you love and the heartwarming feeling of knowing that your man or family loves you after receiving a beautiful bouquet of flowers … priceless!!!!

Last year my husband sent me a dozen roses to work, and it was AWESOME! And just because these roses may die in a week, you can still press one in a book to keep for many years to come. He varies his gifts from year to year to keep me guessing...sometimes flowers, sometimes jewelry, sometimes teddy bears, or whatever he finds that year. I love it all!

But the feeling of that beautiful bouquet coming through the door for all that's there to see is a wonderful feeling. It will light up any woman's heart, and even brighten up their day (if they're having a bad one). Roses don't have to be for just today either...out of the blue just to say I love you is even better! I agree Sacha, the feeling of receiving flowers is priceless.

Amen Sacha. Whether we admit it or not,we enjoy our flowers best when others can also see them, especially other women.

Men,it's so much more fun when EVERYBODY in an office gets flowers,or something.

I must say Mr. Hairy Eyeball sent everyone balloons today, and at my Dad's work,he has some widows who he made sure got some really pretty tulips. My sister and I explained that the flowers that we normally get from him,we also receive from our "men",but those two ladies never get bouquets,so they had better get their bouquets first!(They did,and they were happy)

Of course,he was still on the hook for our Mom and our younger sister-thank goodness there was school today-see and be seen you know.

Flower deliveries at home are okay, but at work or school-priceless!

Okay, you hit a nerve. Gotta share. As a high school teacher for 142 years, I watched the wonderful Valentine Spectacle every year. Certain rules applied with high school girls:

1) Never break up with your boyfriend until AFTER Valentine's Day.

2) Give him a STRONG hint (order) to send you an enormous red, purple or lavendar floral bouquet TO THE SCHOOL in plenty of time to be placed out in the lobby with the veritable GREENHOUSE of flowers which arrives on that special day.

3) It doesn't hurt to include a cute little stuffed bear with a heart on his belly.

4) Don't forget the mushy card (since everybody goes from bouquet to bouquet, reading them).

Some boyfriend-less girls made a point of being "sick" on Valentine's Day.

One of my friends had a Valentine's Day bouquet sent to her office with the inscription "Love, Hank." ("Hank" was her cat, but it shut the other girls up!)
