Dexter Board of Aldermen pass ordinance; address several items at Monday meeting

The Dexter Board of Aldermen passed an ordinance and agreed to make a payment toward the Rib City Shootout. The ordinance presented by city attorney Yewell “Bud” Lawrence changes the city’s marijuana ordinance to match the new state law. The new ordinance says it is unlawful for any person to possess or have under his/her control marijuana more than 3 ounces of dried marijuana or equivalent of marijuana infused products; operate or be in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence (more than a positive test required); smoking or vaping marijuana in a vehicle while operated; smoke, vape or consume marijuana in public place; growing marijuana in an unlocked facility or grow more plants than allowed by State law; persons under the age of 21 years; possess, smoke or vape marijuana or marijuana infused products at a school, bus or correction facility; smoke or vape marijuana at a location where smoking tobacco is prohibited; and growing more plants than allowed by State law or exceeding weight limits and storage, or lack of “card”, or otherwise prohibited by State law.. ...

Nestle Purina donates $20,000 for new dog shelter at Bloomfield

Nestle Purina donated $20,000 to the City of Bloomfield to help construct a new dog shelter. Kari Standley said the completion of the project including the acquisition of material and weather delays took about a year. Standley said the new facility features more space and can house up to eight dogs. Each will have their own indoor outdoor run. The facility is climate controlled with concrete floors. The concrete floors mean an easier more sanitary clean up...
