Betty L. McNair, daughter of the late Cloud and Mary Beecham Fesmire was born on Oct. 28, 1931 in Huron, Tenn. and died on Monday, May 5, 2003 at her residence in Bloomfield at the age of 71. After her father's death in 1933, Mrs. McNair was raised by her mother and step father the late James Ervin. She lived in southeast Missouri most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Senath where she worked actively in the WMU organization and was the manager of the Mitchell Drug and Gift Shop in Kennett for 22 years. Upon moving to Charleston, she took an active role at the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Charleston Athena Club. She moved to Bloomfield in 1992, transferring her membership to the Bloomfield Baptist Church. On Sept. 2, 1947, she married Sidney Burl McNair who survives of the home. Also surviving are one son, Sidney Michael McNair of Knoxville, Tenn.; one daughter, Judy Gail Denton, of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Jim Ervin of Huntley, Ill.; two sisters Connie Shanks of Bloomfield and Carolyn Price of Brookfield, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
