Donald Ross Hamlett, 68, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 in Rocklin, Calif. Born November 18, 1934, in Omaha Neb., son of the John Henry and Sarah Fugate Hamlett, he was a member of the Church on the Move in Roseville, Calif. Mr. Hamlett grew up in Southeast Missouri, coming to Dexter in his senior year of high school. He lived in Dexter until 1975. From 1971 to 1973 he owned and operated "The Hamlett House" restaurant on Highway 25. In 1975, Mr. Hamlett relocated his family to California and lived in the Sacramento area until the time of his death. Survivors include: his wife of 24 years, Andrea "Della" Hamlett; two sons, Mark Hamlett of Aliso Viejo, Calif. and Michael del Castilo of Rocklin, Calif.; two daughters, Tamela Hamlett Ivens of North Hollywood, Calif. and Donna Strohallen of North Highlands, Calif.; his mother, Sarah Hamlett; one brother, Derald Hamlett of Plano, Texas; three sisters, Margaret Hatfield, of Wylie, Texas, Flora Jean Tyler of Selma, Ala. and Beverly Madonia of Forest, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service was held at the Church on the Move in Roseville, Calif. on Thursday, March 13, 2003.
