Milem T. Adkins, the son of the late William Taylor and Susie Millington Adkins, was born in Morehouse on July 20, 1898, and died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at the Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sikeston at the age of 104. Mr. Adkins was a resident of Morehouse all his life. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. On Oct. 7, 1918, he was married to Sarah Jane Anderson in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 1996. He is survived by one son, Elvin Adkins of Morehouse; one daughter, Opal Jackson of Norco, Calif.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Verlon Adkins in 1934. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with Rev. Gary Myers of Sikeston officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse is in charge of all arrangements.
