Bobby M. Williams, age 73, of Okeechobee, Fla., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami. Born August 18, 1929, in Payne, Ark., Mr. Williams had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of The Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal and National Defense Medal. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, H.O. and Iva Williams; two brothers, James Williams and Wayne Williams; one sister, Edith Williams and; and one son, Gene Gillis. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Williams of Okeechobee; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Keith Williams of Russell, Ark.; four sisters, Trella Martinez of Jacksonville, Fla., Wilma Caldwell of El Dorado, Ark., Mary Faulk of Springhill and Darlene Shoptaw of Atkins, Ark. There will be no visitation or services. All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory in Okeechobee, Fla.
