Gwendolyn Floy Slinkard, 95, of St. Louis, was born Nov. 8, 1907 at Gipsy, the daughter of Dennis and Josephine Young Nichols, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the Town & Country Health Care in St. Louis. She was a teacher in a one-room school and a homemaker. She was a member of the Carondelet Baptist Church in St. Louis. On June 5, 1928, she and Kerle Slinkard were united in marriage at St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1998. Survivors include five daughters, Connie Gosneg of Lake Ozark, Carol Dean Gray of Arnold, Colleen Laumand of St. Louis, Sandra Tomey and Patricia Hurst of Fenton; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Don K. Slinkard, three brothers, and one sister. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating. Interment followed in Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
