Helen Blackburn, the daughter of the late Huston and Lena Waltrip Champ, was born in Clarkton on Feb. 15, 1924, and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the age of 78. Mrs. Blackburn had lived in the Puxico area most of her life. She was a retired cook and had worked at restaurants in the Puxico area. She was a member of the Stanfield Baptist Church in Clarkton. On March 16, 1941, she was married to Robert Blackburn, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1973. Surviving are one son, Winfred Blackburn of Puxico; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Blackburn on Dec. 4, 1997. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Jack Allen of Clarkton officiating. Interment will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
