Ralph E. Byrum, the son of the late Jim and Lucy Mahoney Byrum, was born in Jenny Lind, Ark., on Jan. 25, 1910, and died at his home in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the age of 93. Mr. Byrum had lived in St. Louis for 56 years before moving to Poplar Bluff in 1982. He was retired from General Motors and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He had attended Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. On June 10, 1939, he was married to Fay Shull in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1993. Visitation was held after 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert of Poplar Bluff officiating. Interment followed in the Puxico Cemetery with full military honors provided by the SEMO Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico was in charge of all arrangements.
