Joseph Scherer

Joseph E. Scherer, 59, of Advance was born April 14, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Glasstetter Scherer, and died Jan. 16, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Scherer was retired from the Little River Drainage District. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a Jehovah's Witness. On April 24, 1965, he and Jackie Metheny were united in marriage at Elmo, and she survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Joseph Scherer of Oak Ridge, John Scherer and Jason Scherer, both of Advance; three daughters, Theresa Scherer of Marble Hill, Sherri Neal of Morley and Jennifer Scherer of Bloomfield; one brother, Larry Scherer of Palm Bay, Fla.; and 13 grandchidlren. Two infant sons preceded him in death. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
