James C. Ross

James C. Ross, son of the late James P. Ross and Eunice Corlew Ross, was born on March 23, 1925, at Detroit, Mich., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the age of 77. Mr. Ross was a member of the A.R.K. of Hope Church near Dexter, a retired farmer and businessman, a member of the Essex Masonic Lodge, a former board member of Citizens Bank in Dexter, a former board member of the Dexter Memorial Hospital, past president of the Essex-Gray Ridge Lions Club, a former member of the Essex and Richland School Boards, a member of the American Legion and a former Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He was united in marriage to Helen L. Christman on June 22, 1947, at Dexter. Mrs. Ross survives of the home in Essex. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James Alan Ross of Chesterfield; one daughter, Pamela Ann Waggoner of Dexter; two sisters, Norma Kelley of Essex and Betty Swinger of O'Fallon; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Baker, Gloria Lee Ross and Glenda Mae Ross. Visitation was held from 9:30-11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were then conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning with Rev. Ernie Rogers, Rev. David Hardin and Rev. David Craig officiating. Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home.
