Lora Frances Bess, daughter of the late Harvey Hamilton Harrah and Anna Mae McNeil Harrah, was born on April 6, 1907, at Palisade, Neb., and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare at Dexter on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at the age of 95. Mrs. Bess was a member of the First Christian Church in Dexter, a retired seamstress at Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Everett Carl Bess on April 17, 1926, at Loveland, Colo. Mr. Bess preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1985. Survivors include one son, Carl Franklin Bess of Southriding, Va.; three daughters, Vera Bess and Sylvia Hill, both from Dexter, and Linda Baker of St. Charles; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer Harrah, Charles Harrah, and twin brother Frank Harrah; and two sisters, Bertha Shafer and Lela Garr. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Vaughn Wright and Rev. Dan Sitze officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Point Cemetery at Swinton.
