James Glen McGhee, son of the late Guy McGhee and Ida Boyt McGhee, was born March 7, 1920, at Piggott, Ark., and died in the St. Joseph Healthcare at St. Charles on Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the age of 82. Mr. McGhee was a member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott, Ark., a former carpenter, a former resident of Poplar Bluff, Piggott, and a current resident of Bernie. Survivors include three sons, Glen Edward McGhee of O'Fallon, Mike Eugene McGhee of Defiance, and Jeffrey Lynn McGhee of St. Charles; one daughter, Jannette Phillips of Defiance; one brother, W.T. McGhee of Poplar Bluff; five sisters, Alma Daugherty and Ruby Jane Batson, both of Poplar Bluff, Mary Ruth Cordova, Billie Jean Wicknor and Wanda Lee Tressler, all of Grants Pass, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Ray McGhee; two brothers, Evan McGhee and Laymon Lee McGhee; one sister, Zelza McGhee. Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services were then conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel in Bernie. Rev. Clifford Wray officiated. Interment followed in the Piggott Cemetery.
