Leonard W. Powers, age 80, of Nixa, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003. He was born March 14, 1922, in Datto, Ark., the son of Jacob Washington and Cora Bessie Cox Powers. On July 13, 1987, he and his wife Kay were married. Mr. Powers was a member of James River Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Kay; a step-daughter, Jansen Dilley; two step-granddaughters; five sisters, Lucille Marsh of Tulsa, Okla., Bernice Howell of Pocahontas, Ark., Maurice Bundren of St. Peters, Marjorie Ward of St. Louis, and Nelta Hennessey of Tecumseh, Kan. Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, in James River Assembly of God Church, Clark Chapel with Pastor John Snavely officiating. Interment followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Nixa.
