Billy D. Kidd, Sr., the son of the late Donald and Ruth Dixon Kidd, was born in Dexter on June 3, 1948. He was a patient at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and died on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at the age of 54. Mr. Kidd had lived his whole life in Dexter. He was employed for 34 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a cable splicer. Mr. Kidd was a very active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter where he served as Deacon, past Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday school teacher, leader of the Royal Rangers and served on the Light for the Lost Cook Team and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Club. Mr. Kidd had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Kidd was married on Dec. 31, 1969, to Patty Duncan in Canalou. Surviving are his wife Patty Kidd of Dexter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy D. and Tessa Kidd of Malden and Michael and Melissa Kidd of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Cash Kidd of Pensacola, Fla., and Saressa Riddell and Sierra Kidd of Malden; two brothers, Donald Kidd, Jr. of Junction City, Kan., and Ronald Kidd of Sanford, Fla.; two sisters, Linda J. Lewis of Dexter and Jane Meeks of Alton, Ill. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter. Rev. Frank Heitman of Houston, Texas, officiated and Rev. Andrew Lovins assisted. Interment followed in the Caroline Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter with full military honors given by the Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter was in charge of arrangements. PAID
